…i liked the presenters from the little bit I saw so well done them……I couldn’t help think though, Shaun….that your presentation really takes some beating…you definitely have the edge on Eurovision presenting….

I mean all of the "Best albums of the year", awards shows, etc, take place in America). And then on the tourism boon side of things we've never really had to worry about that.

In recent years I can only really think of Rosalia (from Spain) and Christine and the Queens (from France) who have broken through into critically-acclaimed music from Europe. That's only really because we can't be bothered to listen to non-English music, not because no one in Europe is making anything good.
Maybe its just my perception of it has changed. I find it quite similar supporting Scotland in international football

Without eurovision, the phenomena that was Abba would never have happened, so i do get that

for Serbia 15th is a decent result (higher than in 2018, 2019 and also for Sanja (dark hair) 3 places up too for herself compared her solo entry in 2016, for Ksenija (red hair) 2 places below her father's result for Montenegro in 2015 (Knez - Adio) which came 13th

Hurricane basically got a huge regional hit with the entry too (so yeah decent esc result, and hopefully next mission is to be next balkan superstars)

also nice fun fact how they were formed on island of Sint-Maarten, after devastating hurricane Irma, as a charity project at first but ended up being that popular, that they are one of their nation's mainstream acts now (which was nice on its own to see Serbia send something really current from their music scene)

Portugal: The Black Mamba always said they weren't in it for the competition but more to have fun, share their work with a wider audience, they already performed in America, UK, but they just needed a bigger audience to perform to, and this entry of theirs will be on their new upcoming album ''Night in Amsterdam''

San Marino: a shame it didn't get best result to date, cuz i found them better than Serhat for sure, also still on bright side, loved how Flo Rida was enjoying every single moment of the shows

Belgium: 19th is great for Hooverphonic, whom also never were in it for competition, but as Geike said ''a chance to perform for live audience again, which happens to have some points''

I don't have time to analyse the results as much as I'd like to (I'm curious to know which jury member put the UK the highest ) (those figures might not be released yet, I don't know) but I did have some thoughts on the other results...

Ukraine finished 2nd in the televote I had a feeling it would beat France but didn't think it'd be 2nd. Shame the juries gave it lukewarm praise, because it could've been a real contender for the title.

The most disappointing results are obviously San Marino (but then... Flo Rida hasn't had a hit since 2015, so it's to be expected... plus performing last is always a massive handicap. Everyone's already tired and wanting the thing to get over with )... I really hoped the Netherlands would get a little bit more than 11pts in total just because the song was so political and powerful... just maybe a little too ploddy and in amongst some of the big favourites so was drowned out.

The one I really underestimated was Finland... I really don't get what the appeal was there I know I said before that it's very unique and stands out... but as a song in and of itself, it was pretty weak IMO.

Otherwise I'm really happy with the final order. Top ten spots for Ukraine, Switzerland, Lithuania and Iceland... top half spot for Portugal... Cyprus deserved better than 16th but again, had the bookend position and therefore suffered from being forgotten by the end.

Serbia biggest voting difference

21st Juries but 9th in televote

hurray and respect to televoters not being a bunch of nitpicking moaners

i think it is fab on its own if you can sing/dance that well at same time, also very technically demanding, and how fast paced that song also was (but for juries to destroy that, well i'm done with juries now)

but what did you guys think of our interval acts?

music binds us was real nice, bit of orchestra again and our own international name, DJ Afrojack

rock the roof was nice either, Teach-In (ding a dong) original formation, they got very old but so joyful still with that song

my city's Lenny Kuhr de troubadour bop

Lordi still sound and look fab

Heartbroken for the UK, I know people think it’s funny and we deserve it but I don’t think we did and I can’t laugh

But at the end of the day our effort didn’t pay off so, let’s do better. BBC surely have to learn, 2 last places in a row (and if it was under the old format in 2019 Michael would’ve also got nil points)

Happy with an Italy win, they didn’t feel like a winner but I’ll take it because they’ve had so many close calls. I also do feel a little bit annoyed that one of the OG contestants didn’t win but what can you do

Also nice to see the girl who was meant to participate in 2020 for Portugal being a spokesperson, she deserved to be there last night even though I like black mamba, but none of the artists should’ve been snubbed unless it was their choice (like Germany)

I wonder how last year could’ve gone now, it wasn’t as strong but the good songs still were quite tied, I wonder if there would’ve been anything similar to a quadruple nil point kill

It’s sad now, got to know most of these artists over two years and now they’re gone, think we became attached to them. Hope some return in the future. Can’t wait to see Dađi live next year.

Also show some love to James Newman ❤️

I was impressed with the whole contest.
Very few I didn't like really.

I even found Germany entertaining,it was quite catchy.

In the end I hoped France would get it, although I thought Italy really good and one that bridged the varied styles of the others.

The only ones I wasn't keen on were Serbia and sorry Malta too, I felt that was overrated.

As for the UK, I think there is a political reason for doing so badly.
However I said earlier, if it's down to performance too, then the UKs seemed drab.
Plus, I felt the verses melody let down the song.
The verses sounded flat.
The chorus fine.

I don't think any entry warrants no points however it was no surprise the UK were going to be down at the bottom.
No votes from anything, judges or public.

A great night however, one of the best Saturday night's on TV for ages.

The great thing for me was to see 3 major European Nations taking the top 3 places.
3 of my favourite Countries too.
I liked the whole top 3.

I'd have been happy for any of the 3 to have won.
France would have been my own personal choice.
Italy is a Country I love too.

I could listen a lot to those top 3 songs very easily.

It says a lot about Europe though that they won't get behind The UK because of politics but support a country who spent the last month bombing kids

i am proud of my nation for organizing 3 very amazing shows, coronaproof and some amazing interval acts

Chantal Janzen is a queen, very fab job she did as one of hosts, Jan Smit did okay (his english am not too keen on myself LOL but he never does anything in english otherwise his own music is all in dutch ''palingsound'' of volendam as we call it here) Nikkie a queen with her online content, and Edsilia the backstage and green room icon

It's not a political affair. Are you failing to see 3 other countries got 0 in the televote.

He was absolutely dire on the night. Uninspired staging. Weak vocals and the final was the strongest in years.

I'm surprised Finland didn't get more jury votes.

Spain wasn't that bad i thought (also quite emotional since that was a tribute to a rough year for him last year, his dad having passed away basically bit after esc was cancelled back then, and his grandmother having died of COVID too sometime after that) hence why he looked up at end of performance

that 0p felt rude more

Germany well i had a ''what the ****'' moment, didn't know what score to give, i gave 7.0 more to see it from a positive way not a negative way ofc

The UK has so many great artists.
They need to send someone who has stage presence.
Ed Sheeran or Adele would easily win it.

James might be a good songwriter, but stick to songwriting only pls, no more singing/performing yourself

those who got stage presence and who might appeal to eurofans: London Grammar, Ella Eyre, Fleur East, HRVY, Ella Henderson

tbh we Netherlands also had quite a dark period in the contest from 2005-2012 with very bad results, nq streak that was with some embarrassing acts like (De Toppers in 2009, Sieneke in 2010, last place 3J's in 2011, indian girl Joan in 2012)

technically Moldova was weaker than UK, but you know Kirkorov his magic fingers around giving away sim cards in some other countries

also typical of Kirkorov to come up with a oversexed pile of filth of a song

Seeing as Rock music has been a big Eurovision hit maybe should look into that avenue but the problem is the BBC is obsessed with generic family friendly commercial music then has no memorable hook line
