Default Police officer keeps her job after urinating in shop
A police officer has kept her job despite urinating in a clothes shop fitting room while drunk off-duty and then lying to her bosses about it.

PC Amelia Shearer, 24, of Cleveland Police was found guilty of gross misconduct following the incident in Urban Outfitters in York last year.

A disciplinary panel in Middlesbrough found her conduct was discreditable and she had been dishonest.

It decided not to sack her but instead issued a final written warning.

The panel's chairwoman, Ogheneruona Iguyovwe, said: "There is scope for her to be rehabilitated, there is scope for her to set the record straight and to begin on a new path."

Ms Iguyovwe had earlier pointed out that police officers were "expected to maintain high standards of behaviour" and should consider if their actions might cause a loss of confidence in the police.

"Officers are required to act with integrity and honesty at all times," she said.

I'm trying to remember the last time, I read something positive about the police.
Nope.... Can't think of any

From corruption to this , and we're supposed to take them seriously ?!.

Yeah I agree, would be harsh to ruin her career at such a young age over something that was just very stupid. She could go on to do a lot of great police work over the coming years that will make up for it

She's 24 not 16 though.

Why was she even drinking to that degree ? , ( Off duty or on duty .. you're still supposed to be setting an example) .But I'll agree it was stupid what she did . Well I guess time will tell if she's learnt from her actions.

She's still entitled to a life outside the police and not many people in their 20s haven't had some drink-fuelled incidents that they regret

Reading the article she does actually deny that she did this as well which is worth noting
