Meghan and Harry documentary sparks new law for Netflix regulation amid accuracy concerns Under a proposed law, broadcasting regulator Ofcom will be given new powers to regulate Netflix and other streaming services for the first time, amid media questioning about the accuracy of the Harry and Meghan documentary. Michelle Donelan, the Culture Secretary, is hoping to bring forward the Media Bill next year to give Ofcom new legal powers to regulate streaming services not based in the UK. Ofcom would also be allowed to impose fines up to £250,000 or an amount up to five percent of their revenue, whichever would be higher..... |

Britain is NOT a racist country says Rishi Sunak as PM defends the monarchy in wake of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle claims Rishi Sunak today insisted Britain is not a racist country in the wake of Prince Harry and Meghan's claims in their Netflix documentary. The Prime Minister also defended the Royal Family following attacks made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the couple's docuseries with the streaming giant. Speaking in Riga, Latvia, after attending a meeting of some of Britain's military allies, Mr Sunak said he was 'really proud' of the UK. And he described his 'enormous privilege' in being able to champion institutions such as the monarchy while abroad..... |

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has revealed that he experienced racism growing up in the UK but the country has made incredible progress since then in confronting the issue. The British Indian leader was speaking to reporters in the wake of a racism row at Bucking-ham Palace, which saw the resignation of Prince William's godmother after it emerged that the senior palace aide had repeatedly questioned a black British charity work-er about where she was “really from”.
When asked about the controversy, Sunak said it would not be right for him to comment on palace matters and pointed out that action had been taken. “It would not be right for me to comment on matters to do with the royal palace, although as we have seen they’ve acknowledged what’s happened and made an apology for it,” he said. He said: “As I have talked about in the past, I have experienced racism in my life. But what I am pleased to say is some of the things that I experienced when I was a kid and a young person, I don’t think would happen today because our country has made incredible progress in tackling racism. “But the job is never done. And that’s why whenever we see it, we must confront it. And, it’s right that we continually learn the lessons and move to a better future.” Was only last week no? Wants to make up his mind. Or maybe the Daily Fail need to stop printing lies Last edited by Glenn.; 19-12-2022 at 09:15 PM. |

Harry and Meghan's 'exhausting endurance test' Netflix docuseries scores just 43% on Rotten Tomatoes as viewers blast 'cringeworthy' Netflix show Harry and Meghan's docuseries has been scored at a lowly 43 percent on Rotten Tomatoes as critics in the United States rounded on the show after Netflix released the highly-anticipated second half on Thursday. But while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are relying on the US market to warm to them, the docuseries was described as a 'cringeworthy' 'exhausting endurance test' by outlets. One described it as 'going disastrously' for the couple….. |

"Now they have typecast themselves as perpetual victims, and cashed in on their bust-up with the royal family, it is going to be very difficult for them to escape from that mould. Much though they might aspire to establish themselves as inspirational global leaders, their value is as former royals with a grievance. What people have come to expect from them is sensational accusations against Harry’s father and brother, a modern-day Greek tragedy in regular instalments. The irony is that a couple who lose no opportunity to blast the tabloids have condemned themselves to be tabloid fare for ever after. " No wonder high-minded liberals like Jacinda Ardern want nothing to do with them. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/202...hing-do-harry/ |

Bob Seely, a Conservative MP who is planning a parliamentary bill to strip the couple of their titles, said new rules would mean the couple would “not be allowed to get away with some of the obvious misrepresentation in the use of images, claiming the images were representing one thing when in fact they were entirely unconnected with Meghan and Harry”. “I do think on principle that Netflix and other video streaming services should have the same ethical standards as other broadcasters like the BBC,” he said. Tim Loughton MP, who has criticised the Duke and Duchess for their broadsides against other members of the Royal family, said the documentary had used “highly questionable” editing and should have been regulated in the same way as content from a broadcaster like the BBC, ITV or Channel 4. “They should be subject to the same criteria,” he said. “That’s the problem with anything that’s now streamed or anything that’s now available on the internet. “They’re not subject to the same publishing criteria as if it were a hard copy or in the terrestrial media.” -------------------- The Sussexes' Netflix documentary have been accused of "spreading misinformation", while H&M themselves say they are passionate in tackling misinformation. Only about themselves, of course. Their usual typical hypocrisy. |

You see the problem I have is ....
There never seems to be acknowledgement that garbage was ever written about Meghan,I'm as yet to get a response as to why the media thought it was ok to say Meghan is "straight outta Compton" ? . She isn't from Compton. And why was there all the tacky comparisons with Kate ? . Or Piers Morgan's unhealthy obsession with Meghan, which is borderline creep fest , she's basically keeping him in a job . But now I don't understand the end goal with Meghan & Harry's mission, the netflix fiasco sounds like a mess & Harry's book .....will just cause more upset with his family . So I just feel like it's gone so far now ,to the point where there's no hope or any clear conclusion. It seems more it's all about attention & money . Meghan's family haven't helped matters ,her dad & sister have cashed in majorly . And now it's all tit for tat. It's basically so out of control now ,that I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel for anyone involved. People say they're fed up of them ,yet they keep giving them the limelight by talking about them on different news channels & YouTube etc . |
