Julian Nagelsmann's first game as new Germany head coach is against Gregg Berhalter's USA in East Hartford, Connecticut on Saturday (kick-off: 9pm CEST/3pm local time).

Nagelsmann replaced Hansi Flick in charge of Germany at the end of September, having been relieved of his Bayern Munich duties in March, and has named an interesting first squad for the trip to the USA, which will also take in a friendly against Mexico in Pennsylvania. Uncapped Bundesliga trio Kevin Behrens, Chris Führich and Robert Andrich have been called up after impressing for Union Berlin, VfB Stuttgart and Bayer Leverkusen respectively, while Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels has been recalled after a two-year hiatus. Fellow 2014 World Cup winner Thomas Müller is also involved. Ilkay Gündoğan, now of Barcelona, has been kept as captain, and he and Joshua Kimmich should start together in central midfield - although Andrich is likely to get on for a debut, 10 years after last playing for Germany's U20s. There was no place in the squad for RB Leipzig's Timo Werner, while Kimmich's Bayern Munich teammates Manuel Neuer and Serge Gnabry miss out with a broken leg and arm respectively.

In Brenden Aaronson, Gio Reyna, Joe Scally, Kevin Paredes and Lennard Maloney, there are five current Bundesliga players in the American ensemble, who are captained by former Dortmund star Christian Pulisic. Gregg Berhalter - himself formerly of Energie Cottbus and 1860 Munich - is without the injured Tyler Adams, hence Maloney's call-up. The Heidenheim man has covered a league-high 89.9km (55.9 miles) in the Bundesliga this season, while Scally celebrated his recall with a stunning goal to rescue a 2-2 draw for Borussia Mönchengladbach at home to Mainz last Friday.
