[Boston Mayor Michelle Wu sparked backlash after planning a race-based Christmas party for 'electeds of colour'] [Wu was elected Mayor of Boston in November 2021, becoming the city's first female and first Asian American mayor.] How sad, Next Mayor Election they can ditch that Horrid Mayor. [Boston Mayor Michelle Wu planned a Christmas Holiday Party exclusively for 'electeds of color' An aide to the mayor accidentally emailed the exclusive party to the whole city council chamber The move to host a racially segregated party sparked outrage, with one city councilor branding it 'unfortunate and divisive'] https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...mas-party.html Last edited by arista; 15-12-2023 at 02:22 AM. |

I honestly don't get the Americans obsession with turning everything into some sort of demographic warzone?
I know that other countries can also develop this issue sometimes, but never as OTT and extreme as the Americans, this is literally the epitome of American racial divides that are absolutely silly and destructive, plus and this might be controversial to say this, but you kind of need the majority of your population (in this case white people) to like you, being racist and hostile towards them is absolutely ****ing moronic from anyone that does that. It would be like me going to Taiwan, having a high up position within the country, and then started being hostile to every Asian person within Taiwan just to promote what would be 5% of non-Taiwanese people when you combine the non-Han Taiwanese people into one community. Basically Michelle Wu needs to not be racist, but also start using her brain on how to promote yourself.

America is a fundamentally racist country. The difference between now and 60 years ago, is that they paid lip service to diversity and that allowed people of colour into positions of power. Now all they are doing is using their new found power to play the same games

That kind of racism is sadly still common.

That was no 'accidental' leak
She should resign, how can you be a Mayor of a City if you don't believe you are there to represent everybody

lol I just read the story now she had 6 people to send it to and sent it to all 13, and the elected of colour were allowed to bring a guest, what gasp if they chose a white guest interesting to see that some are passing it off saying there are other parties, they would be the same people crying into their soup if there were whites only parties lol

…apparently this is something that has been going for a decade now and is specifically for those ‘of colour’ elected and who represent colour minorities within the community… by definition, there would only be those 6 people I think there are who are part of a very small group who were ‘elected with colour’ and work for those minorities….so a gathering to discuss or celebrate something very specific…those who weren’t or aren’t part of that community work, don’t seem to have any issue that this seems to be a valued and essential work within a community…and there is no mention of that work, only that there is some kind of social gathering of all who are an active part ….it just feels as though it’s a media driven outrage thing…anyway, there’s not for me much else to say…everyone seems fine that this is something that has been ‘a thing’ for a decade and a benefit to the community for those who need it, so far as I know….
