Default Terry Wogan quits Eurovision role

Quote:
Terry Wogan has confirmed that he will no longer be presenting the Eurovision Song Contest.

The Radio 2 DJ, who has fronted the BBC's coverage for 37 years, said it was "time for someone else to take over".

"I was considering giving up before Belgrade, and now I have to say I'm very doubtful about ever wanting to do Eurovision again," Wogan told the Radio Times.

In this year's contest, Britain's Andy Abraham only earned 14 points, while the Russian winner Dima Bilan bagged 272.

Commenting on the 2008 contest, Wogan said: "Days before the show, I knew Russia would win. The fact is, Putin was getting nasty, which means the former satellite states were always going to vote for Russia in order to keep the oil coming.

"It's unfortunate, I suppose, but whereas we have always taken Eurovision with a pinch of salt, the former Eastern Bloc countries are not sufficiently versed in the

Its a pity and the end of an very big era the Eurovision without Wogan is going to very strange, but after watching the shameful voting which left the UK and our own representative with just 2 countries voting for one of the best performances there I can hardly blame him at all.
If it were me I'd have quit half way through the scandalous and obscene voting cheats that are clearly wrecking the whole contest now.

The Eurovision now its simply a scam and best scrapped or boycotted by the UK in future.

Well I suppose we all saw it coming. It's a pity tho, I loved his commentary! I can't imagine someone else doing it.

Good on him. As much as I like Eurovision, the voting is ridiculous and we should withdraw. We don't have a chance even with a good song.

I'm surprised Ireland haven't quite yet. With 7 wins already, they don't need the shame of it. No one will ever beat them and they don't want to win. They have nothing to prove to anyone not to mention how much money it would cost such a small country!

Many countries say they do not vote for us because of Terry!! They found out about some of his comments that he makes. I do agree block voting is to blame however, if Terry was a little nicer maybe we would get a little more votes!

Aye its not like we are gonna win anytime soon, but i still enjoy it a little bit.
Its most likely going to be Fearne to take over, which I dont mind, as I love Fearne
