I find this anti patriotic thing hilarious.
I have seen the flag of St George removed from buildings because of PC councils in English towns and villages, yet allow people who fled their homelands because of persecution fly the flag from the land that would in some cases exceute them if they returned. I lived in Ireland for a lot of my formative years, and I know a lot of my relatives over there also think political correctness and europe are destroying communities and patriotism. I currently live in Scotland and guess what is starting to rear its ugly head, council asking for the Saltire to be removed from private and public buildings for the fear of isolating and alienating foreign nationals. Doesnt matter where you live same thing is happening all over the UK and Ireland. Its PC gone mad.... Its mad I tell you... So now I have found the answer..... treat everone the same hate everyone Sociopathic Xenophobia, its the way forward. |

Exactly... it's a political discussion. Having to get into discussions about culture, race etc. Would lead down certain paths of debate that maybe don't belong on here.

That should quieten down the most vociferous of Scots. [/rquote] i haven't seen any scots mouthing off on this thread?? why did you feel the need to single us out??[/rquote] I appreciate your post in response to mine. If you read the whole thread the Scottish have been having pointed references to the English. What do you think of the Barnet Formula? Don't tell me you have never heard of it?[/rquote] Nope never heard of that, are you by chance referring to the Barnett Formula, the formula devised by Lord Barnett chief Secretary to the Treasury during the Callaghan/Wilson Governments for the allocation of public spending in the various parts of the union? |

I think some English people can be quite arrogant and belittle people who they do not view as peers. I remember being at a party in London at a friends flat and all us Irish were in one room and everyone else ignored us apart from my friends bfs family.
If it were in Ireland we'd be bending over backwards to make sure any outsiders were having a good time. We just didn't understand it. Nothing against the English though! That was just my only experience of visiting London. All UK ppl I've met here have been great fun and 3 of my friends live in London and Brighton and love it |
