this is wht bbspy and sherly jones has said about the new house ...
Channel 4 has released images and details of the brand new look Celebrity Big Brother house – read on see them! While the layout of the house is mostly the same as it was in the summer, it has had a complete old-fashioned makeover for the new series, which goes with the eye logo and ‘Hell lies in others’ tagline. In the entrance hall, the walls have been painted red, while a deep blue carpet has been laid. The door in to the Diary Room is now covered by a picture of a burning flame. The dark colours continue in to the living room, with black and gold gilded-panel walls and a red carpet. The (12-seater) dining table is now on the right side of the room. There’s a new sitting area featuring two couches, two armchairs and a chaise longue, draped in faux fur throws and diamante cushions, as well as a coffee table with a camera fixed to the centre so we can see whatever happens there up close! Two more chairs and an animal rug are in one of the corners, beside another fire mural. The garden resembles a courtyard, designed so that the cameras are hidden among the brick walls and ivy. The BB team are hard at work creating ’something big’ to take centre stage in the area – but what could it be? One thing we do know is that the pool has been replaced by a heated seating area. There’s also a wood-panelled snug for the housemates to find… If the dark colours and basic kitchen are too daunting, then the celebs can seek solace in the white and blue bathroom. Alongside the standalone roll-top bath and sink, there’s a chaise longue and a dressing table with mirror. There’s also a two-person shower room – but, as is the norm in CBB, there are no cameras inside. However, there’s still a microphone to catch any housemates who sneak off for a bitching session! “It looks a bit like the faded opulence of an English country pile,” says executive producer Shirley Jones. Oh, and here’s one of the toilets. Talking about the makeover, Jones revealed that it was inspired by Dante’s Inferno. She said: “The famous line from Dante’s Inferno is ‘Abandon hope all ye who enter here’, which has inspired much of what we have done to the house, particularly the entrance which is dark and cavernous with flaming walls. “When the celebrities arrive in the house on Sunday night they will definitely wonder what is in store for them, it looks incredibly different from previous years.” “As well as Dante we have been hugely influenced by Sartre’s line ‘Hell is other people’ and the house reflects this. “Whilst the flames and dark colours might look a bit hellish to some, sometimes your actual hell is the people you’re with so we have removed some of the doors to make everything more open plan, there are very few areas to go to if someone needs to grab five minutes of peace and quiet.” Meanwhile, Channel 4 commissioning editor David Williams said: “Some might say it’s like a tart’s boudoir. It’s usually a bit clinical. We’ve hopefully made it moody and atmospheric.” Previous series of Celebrity Big Brother have used the house from the prior main series with some modifications. The celebrity housemates moves in to their new abode during the launch show, this Sunday at 9.00pm on Channel 4. What do you think of the new house? Do you like the old-fashioned approach, or should the producers have kept it modern? Let us know below. Keep it here! thknss for readinn |
