Olly Murs, runner-up in X Factor 2009, the all dancing, all singing 'cheeky chappy' of the contest, embarks on his own music career this autumn having wrapped up the very successful X Factor Tour and signing with Epic Records, home to fellow X Factor alumni JLS.
His debut single 'Please Don't Let Me Go' has hit radio stations across the country and is co written by Murs, Claude Kelly [known for his work with Kelly Clarkson and Britney Spears] and Steve Robson [known for his work with Take That and James Morrison]. Described as a guitar-pop, mid tempo pop ditty, the song borrows the sound of the likes of Jason Mraz and Will Young. It is available for digital download August 29th.
Further collaborations for his upcoming album, tentatively set for release on October 25, include John Shanks [Alanis Morrisette, Bon Jovi] and Eg White [Florence + The Machine, James Blunt and Diana Vickers]. He is expected to perform on the upcoming live finals for this year's X Factor.
