Well people obviously are buying the record XFactor or not,if people DO NOT LIKE something they don't buy it surely,Does it really matter what is number one Christmas day? it's just a day, music is music, not all of us will like the same, this year is the first time I have ever brought an XFactor winners song and that is because I like it.

Yes! are you foreign?
This is the UK and christmas No1 is(or WAS) a huge tradition. Now ruined. A lot of people resent that. and given that all the winning songs seem to sell massively I think a lot do buy it regardless of how good it is. |

Listen to any piece of dirt for long enough and it will catch on. It amazes me that people are entirely apathetic to how boring it has all become. Look at darling Matt's customary winners video. Boring shots of him against some abstract studio backround mixed in with slow motion black and white shots of him on the X-Factor or something like that. Same as every other bloody winners song. Where is the leg room for new creativity? Does it not bother you in the slightest? He is a relentless bore who will be replaced by another relentless bore in twelve months time. Look at who he inheritid the crown from for fuck sake. Last edited by Stu; 01-01-2011 at 08:31 PM. |

Christmas has lost a lot of things that are 'traditional' as proved on a thread here a while ago about Christmas being celebrated just for it's commercial value now,Can you remember the last great Christmas song brought out here in the uk?,it was years ago, before The XFactor started,we may have got the odd one but nothing like John Lennons,Slade,Wizard type songs, but perhaps some prefer Cliff Richards!

Hijacked. ps; and nobody bothers even trying to compete anymore because they know its futile. They just don't bother releasing big records at that time. Last edited by Zippy; 01-01-2011 at 09:48 PM. |

Just how do you know christmas songs have not already been released this year that are on par with 'the greats'? I am going to assume you don't exactly dig deep for your musical kicks, and as many great artists neither have the money nor lucrative platform to push their songs to airplay - the ones that can even be bothered because as Zippy alluded to the X-Factor bores have scared off a lot of genuine competition from even bothering - how exactly are you comftorable with making such wide assumptions? If a great was released? If? You hear what is sent directly to your musical inbox. Very little else. Plenty of better songs than Matt's [in name only, of course] 'effort' were released this year. It's just that most people will never have heard of them because most people don't look for music. Music finds them. That's not an indictment of people or pop more a nod to the way the industry - and it's consumers - work. So please ... stop pretending Matt won because it was genuinly the best thing going. It wasn't. It was an event and people love events. They are more than happy to buy into it and feel that collective sense of victory when 'they' play a part in helping Matt 'overcome' or whatever other jubilant adjective you care to use. |

We've had 6 series of cheesy winning songs, I thought it was nice for a change. Afterall people will get bored of the overdone winning ballads.
