We refused to join the Euro yet we have to maybe now help Portugal.

Who helps us when we are in any difficulty.

Beyond a joke and I bet we will have to donate to the bail out too. Where's the richer EU Nations helping the UK with our deficit problem, how can International money fund watchdogs expect a Nation that has supposedly major deficit problems of its own to then donate to bail outs of other Nations.

This is the economics of madness.

I never supported joining the Euro,it also would not surprise me if Spain was next especially if Portugal gets a substantial bail out.

I am not a supporter of any single party but I did hope for stronger language and determination as to the EU from the Conservative party especially as to bailing out Nations in difficulty that joined the Euro considering we refused to,although I do realise they will need to keep the Lib Dems happy as they are really pro all that is the EU.

I understand that our economy could completely collapse again if we don't help, but who helped us when ours did collapse a few years ago?

Yup. Brilliant point there. All seem perfectly happy to take yet not happy to give back.

Annoys me no end this does, even though personally it makes not much difference to me. Just an extra bit of tax, get taxed to death anyways so an extra few quid makes no difference.

What do you mean get Ireland to fund them? If we had any money we wouldn't have needed a bail out in the first place!

I think people in the UK were less hostile towards us getting the bailout because we're closest to the UK, I can understand why your pissed off about Portugal it's not a 10 minute flight away....

Portugal and Ireland are in a lot worse state than we were tbf, I'm not particularly opposed to giving them assistance although it frustrates me that these countries irresponsible leaders let things get the way they are.
