Coronation Street star Kate Ford has revealed that the show's cast are disheartened following two award losses in quick succession.

EastEnders bagged both the British Soap Award for 'Best Soap' and the BAFTA for 'Continuing Drama' this month.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Ford, who plays Tracy Barlow in the ITV1 soap, said: "We were surprised and disappointed. I wasn't even in the live episode but I watched it as a fan, and I was sat there on the edge of my seat.

"I was really surprised it didn't win. But I do genuinely think that because the of the year we had, we should have won the BAFTA. But it didn't."

She continued: "I don't know what to say about [the Soap Awards]. We didn't win. It's a shame. But someone has to win. It can't be us all the time."

Coronation Street was universally praised for its live episode to celebrate its 50th year last December.

The EastEnders cast were surprised when they won at the NTA awards and BSA.. Nitin and Nina's speeches were good and praised all the soaps perhaps, it's understandable to be disappointed or peed off about losing but they need to learn to be more gracious.

Most people love watching drama, and EE is good at delievering that, Corrie has its moments where it gets boring for a bit (week revolving around Maria and 'rape' incident zzz), but its gotten really good past month with Becky/Max/David, Stapey, and Xin/Graeme/Tina storyline concluding.

The tram week was excellent but I can't watch it normally, I find it a bit dull. I think Eastenders does a better job of organising their stories so that it's constantly interesting.

For the BAFTA's, one episode from each soap is submitted. Corrie did the Tram crash episode and EastEnders did the Billie's death episode. Both were good but I think in terms of quality, Billie's death episode was a lot better. Lyndsey Coulson (Carol) was amazing in it and I know it impressed a lot of people. It had universal praise from the critics too so it was a hard one to beat.

I liked the tram crash but Billie's death was an outstanding piece of drama and affected me more, bias I know.

Corrie will have another trump card I mean tram *cough cough* for next year.

Just face the fact people love EastEnders far better than any other soap.

Also - I honestly really think Doctor's should just be barred from even going next year FFS; who actually watches it?
Waterloo Road is considered a soap - it's in Inside Soap Magazine and stuff and is far more popular than Hollyoaks or Doctors is.

Waterloo Road should go to the BSA's from now on, not Doctors.
Believe me it would make competition far more unpredictable.

The silly Stape saga has put a fair few people off Corrie, also, they have these phases where important characters just go missing for not just weeks but months,like Liz Macdonald for instance (before Bev Callard left the show for good), she was and still is the landlady of the Rovers,yet she disappeared for months,then was back a short time, now is gone again and no one asks any questions.
I know a fair few landlords and landladies of Pubs but none of them can just disappear for months on end like that.

Corrie has a bad continuity problem with its writers that EE wouldn't tolerate,that's maybe why Corrie does well on individual characters and storylines but loses out overall.
