Maybe you would all like to see summary executions with no appeals?

The point is these harsher sentences seem indicative of political interference for party political reasons, a dangerous precedence in jurisprudence.

well I wouldnt mind seeing those thugs who pulled him off his bike and stole it executed. Nasty worthless scum and we can clearly see the evidence so no court case or appeal needed.

What we want to see is swift, harsh punishment to criminal activity that is a threat to every decent person, business and community in the country. Plus we want a strong clear message sent out that it will not be tolerated.

So sick of bleeding heart liberals boohooing about harsh sentences whilst not even offering any alternative solutions. And I mean short term solutions because something needs to be done fast to stop it kicking off again. Hardline tactics are the only effective short term option right now. Indeed it took a hardline approach to finally squash last weeks mayhem of destruction.

And the vast majority of the population are totally behind such strong retalliation. In fact, I think the bleeding hearts are being given way too much airtime. They are a tiny minority who are way out of touch with public mood.

It is not a question of liberal agendas but the separation of the executive and the judiciary. The executive is being seen to be interfering with the judiciary for political gain, thus the executive is seeking to make capital of the disorder by claiming to get tough on those involved.

What comes next?

The midnight knock on the door of those who do not vote appropriately? Remember when you go to vote, your ballot slip has a unique number on it which will tie to a list with your name on it. (All designed of course to address electoral fraud)

As for what halted the epidemic, as indeed this is what it was, if you analyse it's spread pattern from ground zero, was the weather.

It started to rain, and that kept people off of the streets, separated them, and it allowed the collective insanity perpetuated by a malevolent meme to subside.

As for the public mood, that is being whipped up by elements of the right wing press with their own political agenda, perpetuating yet another potentially malevolent meme. This meme is even more insidious than that which caused the riots to spread, because it clothes itself with self-righteousness. It is the meme of vindictiveness, and this one does not look like it will be disrupted by a few drops of rain

Yeah, I just saw that. Thing is, the police will be forced to use firearms too if that's the way it goes. And the police know how to use their firearms.

Default Birmingham riots: Jermaine Lewis convicted over police shooting

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...ngham-18344640

Quote:
A 27-year-old man has been convicted of firearms possession after police officers were shot at during last summer's riots in Birmingham.

Jermaine Lewis, of Summerton Road in Oldbury in the West Midlands, was also found guilty of reckless arson and riot at Birmingham Crown Court.

Five others have already been convicted of the same charges after 12 shots were fired at police in August.

The West Midlands force helicopter was also shot at.

Tyrone Laidley, 20, Nicholas Francis, 26, of Thetford Road, Great Barr in Birmingham, Renardo Farrell, 20, of The Terrace, Finchfield in Wolverhampton and Wayne Collins, 25, from Ouseley Close in Luton, Bedfordshire, were all convicted of riot, reckless arson and possession of firearms with intent to endanger life.

A teenager, 17, who cannot be named, was convicted of riot and firearms offences but cleared of arson.
They will be sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday

"It's completely distinct from any other experience that I've had where police officers arrive and individuals ditch their weapons or run away.

should have shot them then.

Thumbs up Birmingham riots: Men jailed over police shooting

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...ngham-18349992

Quote:
Five men and a teenager have been jailed after police were "lured" to a pub fire and shot at in Birmingham during riots last August.

The men, who were convicted of rioting, reckless arson and firearms possession, were given sentences ranging from 18 to 30 years at Birmingham Crown Court.

Amirul Rehman, 17, was sentenced to 12 years for riot and firearms offences.

The five men were convicted of riot, reckless arson and possession of firearms with intent to endanger life.

Nicholas Francis, 26, of Thetford Road, Great Barr, Birmingham, described by the judge as the most dangerous of the men, was jailed for 30 years.

Tyrone Laidley 20, of Chadsmoor Terrace, Nechells and Jermaine Lewis, 27, of Summerton Road in Oldbury were sentenced to 23 years.

Wayne Collins, 25, from Ouseley Close in Luton and Renardo Farrell, 20, of The Terrace, Finchfield, Wolverhampton, were jailed for 18 years.

Two other defendants, Joyah Campbell, 19, of Hanover Court, Aston, Birmingham, and a 17-year-old, were acquitted last week of riot, arson and firearms possession.
Bang 'em up, bang 'em all up (for a good few years) .....

Yeah, 30 YEARS is a long, long time - Francis will probably be out in a lot less but will, nevertheless, be a lot older and, hopefully, somewhat wiser .....

That's quite some time but they'll learn their lessons.
