Singer Frank Ocean told investigators that R&B artist Chris Brown threatened to shoot him during a fight over a parking space last month, court records have shown.

The report was included in a prosecution motion seeking to have Brown's probation revoked over discrepancies in the records of his 2009 community service sentence for beating girlfriend and pop star Rihanna.

It says Brown punched Ocean after the pair got into an argument over the parking space at a West Hollywood recording studio on January 27.

Ocean told police that at one point, Brown shouted he and his entourage could "bust" Ocean, which prosecutors say is a slang term for shooting someone.

Tuesday's motion by prosecutors also said there was no credible evidence Brown completed the required community service after his conviction on battery charges.

Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos, quickly rejected the prosecutor's claims, calling the filing "shameful and a disgrace."

Records submitted to prove Brown did the community service were "at best sloppy documentation and at worst fraudulent reporting", the prosecutor's motion says.

Logs showed the singer performing double shifts in the city of Richmond, Virginia, and at a day care centre where his mother once worked.

"This inquiry provided no credible, competent or verifiable evidence that defendant Brown performed his community labour as presented to this court," Deputy District Attorney Mary Murray wrote.

Mr Geragos said the district attorney's office has ignored sworn statements by police in Virginia that Brown's community service was supervised.

Brown and Rihanna have since reconciled, with the Barbados-born star telling Rolling Stone magazine, "We don't have those types of arguments anymore ... We value each other. We know exactly what we have now, and we don't want to lose that."
