Default 96,500 pounds for a rug

I was in liberty's of London yesterday for the first time and came across some large hand woven rugs, what was interesting and shocking was the prices.

they ranged from the cheapest of 2,500 to the dearest of 96,500

would anyone one on here, if they had the means to do so, spend 96,500 on a rug?
and who makes up these prices?, they had well over a million pounds in rugs going on their prices.

some of those large rugs are hand made and people put a lot of effort in them. its a great skill some look amazing.
if i was rich i could justify one of them. i would never waste money on art. people paying millions for a crap painting or some old stool lol now thats stupid

rug though you could use.

No I would never pay prices like that for something you lay on the floor and walk over plus you can get rugs from b&m and places like that for 40 quid

All depends how rich you are I suppose.

If I really fell in love with one and had the money then, yes, I would buy it.

Well I imagine the calibre of people I invite to my dinner parties would be slightly higher class than yourself and have a much greater appreciation for the quality and workmanship that would have gone into such a fine rug, it would keep us talking for hours

If you're earning in the region of Ł250,000 a week as some do then Ł96000 is less than half of your weekly wage. It is the equivalent of someone earning Ł300 a week spending Ł100 on a bit of carpet. Just on a different scale.

i would never buy a rug for an amount any where near those prices, also the person with the skill to make those rug's got no where near that price, just someone buying from the middle east, putting them in a fancy london store and adding the zero's.

Who earns Ł250,000pw?...
It would be cheaper to buy a return flight ticket to wherever it was woven and buy direct if you truly appreciate the artistry of it and not the mark up.
It would also make for a considerably more interesting dinner party conversation.

I would imagine that if a rug is selling for Ł97k it's going to have a lot of age and history to it, not a modern one

London based Premier League footballers for one. Eto'o at chelsea is on over 200k a week, Tevez is on 230k a week..yes I know Tevez is not in London.

I suppose, it's just a fantastic amount of money to even imagine spending on a rug... You can get a house on my street for that haha!

If someone an afford it I don't see that it's anyone else's concern how they spend their money. We don't get a say. Like we don't get a say when people spend their benefits on alcohol or pay eight quid for a packet of cigarettes. It isn't anyone else's business.

Asking if you would pay that for a rug doesn't mean you think others shouldn't.
How that's comparable to benefits and addictive substances I don't know, good job rugs aren't addictive that would be a very expensive..
