Quand il pleut, il pleut

..I think this would be a good thing if it was purely for safety reasons and to be able to have a clearer understanding of speeds etc in accidents and if you were never in an accident, it's not something that would ever really bother you but it just seems to be about money and insurance more than anything else and as if there premiums aren't high enough already...it's the same with speed cameras, they don't seem to put them in 'danger areas' and to save lives so much as in areas were more fines will be gained....

If it means fewer uninsured nob-heads on the road, less chance of a hit and run... I'm all for it.

There was someone in my area who had to get one of these fitted else they couldn't afford insurance, and the box meant that the car had to be stationary after 11pm at nights or they would be fined. There was one night where they were cutting it fine to get back before the curfew and so ended up driving more recklessly and died in an accident. People might say they should have been safer but that's easy to say, when you're worried about being hit with a fine and having to keep one eye on the clock it can easily distract people from driving responsibly and place them under a lot of unnecessary pressure

If they're going to the trouble of doing this, why don't they introduce speed inhibitors for inexperienced drivers?

There was a speed regulation as well I think but it only came into play if they were going 50% over the speed limit
I'd have hated to have had one after I passed my test, would feel like being constantly under pressure when driving Last edited by MTVN; 19-05-2014 at 02:54 PM. |

I was safe with my first car. The only way it could have broken the speed limit would be if I'd pushed it out of the back of a plane.
