Default Footballers - too much media training

Is there a link between charisma and sporting success?

So bored of bland tedious uninspiring guarded trite comments from England footballers in international level media and press conferences namely Lampard, Gerrard, and even Ross "smiley" Barclay as it often goes hand in hand with unpassionate if technically decent performances. They talk the talk when it's for their clubs but seem so stilted and unpassionate when talking about England. Where's the public passion, the arrogance the self belief?

Is media training killing off any interesting players have to say? The WC dutch, Brazil and US press conferences have been brilliant. Even the Germans have been interesting.

Yes you can do well and have zero personality, Andy Murray is publically dull and had a great 2012/ 2013 but Djokovic and Nadal have more self belief and won more.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the Aussie captain, even Zlatan Ibrahimovic has more fire than Gerrard this WC and Sweden didn't qualify. So many of the best sports stars whether it's Serena Williams, Michael Schumacher, Kevin Pietersen as wellas Ronaldo etc have got charisma, passion personality, controversial opinions and massive egos but crucially the talent to back it up and ultimately don't care if they are disliked. They also have energy, vim and engagement in press conferences and often say things you can tell their PRs furiously try and play down. They often bring that drama to their game. Modest footballers often lead to modest little England, we need players who aren't afraid to show passion and a don't give two sh**es what you think attitude.
