Default Claudia's daughter in horrific halloween accident .

Claudia Winkleman's daughter was rushed to hospital after she was set on fire in a freak Halloween night accident, it was revealed today.

Matilda Thykier, eight, is reported to have been injured when her costume was set alight in an accident with a candle while enjoying Halloween night near Marble Arch in central London on Friday.

Her mother missed the following day's Strictly Come Dancing programme and the BBC admitted her daughter was unwell - but it has since emerged the incident was more serious than first thought.

I had a feeling that there was something more serious to it as if it was just a common cold or whatever then Claudia would've still done the show I think.

Well I hope for a steady recovery for her Daughter, these mistakes happen every year but bizarrely get pushed aside for other stuff by the media.

Claudia Winkleman may miss Strictly Come Dancing 2014 for ‘several weeks’ after her daughter was involved in a tragic accident.

The TV host missed out on Saturday night’s latest live show, where it was said she had taken time off for her ill daughter.

It’s since been revealed that Claudia’s daughter Matilda had been rushed to hospital after her Halloween costume ‘caught fire’ in a horrifying accident at home.

In a statement released yesterday, Claudia and husband Kris Thykier said: “Our daughter was involved in an accident on Friday night while celebrating Halloween.

“She is having the best care possible and we are hopeful of a full recovery.”

They explained: “We would like to thank everyone that has been so supportive and particularly the NHS doctors, nurses and staff who have been absolutely incredible.

“We would like to take this opportunity to remind anyone taking part in fireworks parties or Guy Fawkes celebrations to be vigilant about the dangers of candles, open fires and fireworks and to please have the appropriate safety measures in place and to hand.”

It Takes Two host Zoe Ball stepped in for Claudia alongside Tess Daly last weekend and it’s expected she’ll continue to front the BBC One series for as long as is needed.

“Zoe Ball will co-host Strictly Come Dancing this weekend [November 8 and 9]. All our thoughts and very best wishes are with Claudia and her family at this time,” a spokesperson for the BBC confirmed.

It’s hoped that Claudia Winkleman will return to Strictly Come Dancing 2014 next weekend.

The TV host has missed the past two shows following a tragic Halloween accident saw her daughter Matilda rushed to hospital with burns.

In a statement released last Wednesday, Claudia and husband Kris Thykier said: “Our daughter was involved in an accident on Friday night while celebrating Halloween.

“She is having the best care possible and we are hopeful of a full recovery.”

They added: “We would like to thank everyone that has been so supportive and particularly the NHS doctors, nurses and staff who have been absolutely incredible.”

It Takes Two host Zoe Ball stepped in for Claudia alongside Tess Daly last Saturday night and continued to front the show yesterday evening too.

The Daily Mirror newspaper now reports that Strictly bosses are hopeful that Claudia will be able to return next Saturday night, when the show moves to Blackpool.
