Lets all take a minute to reflect on our first ever post on this forum and realise we'll never be as cool as this guy

Remarkable double standards on this thread, I'm amazed that some of the most vociferous denouncers of Ken for his use of Negro are allowing their 'integrity' to be compromised defending Perez. Get your mirrors out people, some of you need to take a long hard look in them!

Being serious I don't believe that Perez should be using the term either, but I believe that none of them in there should be using that term imo as it's offensive.

It is only words though so I wouldn't warn these Housemates from using it, it's just not what I want to hear.

But why Perez is the only one getting attacked for it is beyond me, the detractors are getting desperate now.

It's ok for Patsy and Cami to use that word, but not Perez.

Perez is 3rd favourite to win, so it's all good. This is not even worth bothering about. It's nit picking.

I agree non of them should be using it, look at the context in which it's being used for your answer as to why Perez is copping the main flak (haters aside). He's using it as a derogatory term in monologues to camera, the other two are mimicing Cami in coversations with her.

Fair enough with your post, at least you are not pretending not to have heard the other two say the word though.

From Wiki ^^

Why is nobody clocking the racial sterotyping?
In modern usage in the United States, the term "cholo" usually indicates a person of Mexican or Mexican-American descent, generally mestizo or Amerindian, who is associated with American cultural subgroups such as the "lowrider" car culture, or the hip hop scene in general. The term is used in Caló slang, but it in turn has infiltrated into mainstream American English.

That's why.

Exactly, but people will/can choose to ignore the information as it is much more convenient to have something to whinge about.

This reminds me of last year, when people were desperately trying to stop Gary from winning. It failed!

And while you've got your mirrors out take another long hard look, and wonder why you've spent four pages of debate concerning what politically correct word is or isn't acceptable this week. Doesn't it make you think that perhaps society is getting rather sinister????
