The 'black race' are digging there own graves, making it a commonly used word and then getting the hump about if someone using it. IMO they are encouraging racisim! Reminding people to treat people different accroding to their skin colour. I understand them thinking it gives them back power to reclaim the word but it's just far too niave. Even a lot of young black people say it before they even know it has a background let alone what it is. |

Yes, of course she should have been removed and C4 have gained some respect for acting so quickly.
Emily is no great loss... was just a poor immitation of Grace to be honest. In a week or so we will hopefully have forgotten about her. |

Nah

Emily should have been more careful about what she said, that's sad for her, even if the producers didn't think so much about it.

I think the reason it's 50/50 is because perhaps some people feel what she did was wrong, and should've been punished, but not ejected.
Thinking about it though, Emily leaving has probably done her more good, because if she had stayed complaints would've been received, things would've been more difficult for her, and one thing's for sure - I wouldn't be feeling sympathy like I do now. So I think for both her sake and the viewers', ejecting her was the right decision, and fans probably aren't thinking about her welfare as well as their own. I'll admit that some of those are probably assumptions on my part, but I don't think they're too far off the mark. |

134 votes and still 50/50? Is something is going on here? Because at 80 votes it was much the same yet the concensus of written opinion is YES she should have been kicked out.
Maybe the NOs are shy? |

Now everyone is crawling out the woodwork with "Emily racially abused me" in every paper. This is just sad and sounds opportunistic, these stories need to be taken carefully and seem to be an effort to vilify Emily.

I am sorry but could not disagree more with your logic..... If black people can say it then white people should also be allowed. Otherwise you have discrimination which is what racism is about....So So many are missing the point when it comes to any words used. It is not the word that is evil it is the intent in which the word is used that is evil....... Tell me should we ban the word slut and slag against females often used on the forums against housemates because they too are offensive to the housemates relatives let alone the housemate. All these high moral ground statements about Emily is typical of todays confused and hypocrytical very much controlled society..... Racism is in the mind not in the words.......You can ban people from saying certain delegated words but that will not change the way they think.........If you ban people from using offensive words then you never get the chance to debate with them the wrong thinking with a possibility of changing the way they think....... Supression which is what the banning of free speach is always makes matters worse.....Governments won't learn that lesson until its to late and the coiled spring of repression breaks free and all hell is let loose... |

I wonder if Nicky would have said it to Charley... would she have been ejected too? If she'd have said it in exactly the same context, etc, i really doubt it and that's the sad part because i've heard it so much where i come from, on the T.V etc in that context that i wouldn't have even picked up on it unless they didn't make such a big deal about it.
But yeah, they had no choice. |

I thought the decision to remove Emily was the right one, and after everything in CBB I feel it was their only option . However, as one of the viewers of bbbm said, it would have been good to have warned her and made the group discuss it all through and hopefully find a resolution and understanding.

Do I think she should have been removed from the house THIS year? Yes. At the end of the day, she said something that shouldn't have been said, regardless of the context, and it was in direct violation of the rules. However, if we are to disregard the context, and we should considering that it is the WORD that was deemed offensive, then Charley and Nikki should both have been evicted, or at least punished severely.
Black people, and Asian people are NOT allowed to use the "N" word, or any other racially offensive words, and anyone who says otherwise is, quite frankly, one of the people who ensure racism continue. You cannot have double standards, as that, in itself, is descrimination on the grounds of race, that's racism. Prior to this year, however; I would have had to have said no. Had she said it on another occasion following this, I'd have her kicked out straight away, but on this occasion, I'd say she would deserve a severe slap on the wrist and kick up the backside. After the events of CBB5 (which I strongly believe to have been about class, and the stupidity of Jade Goody, and not race), they had to act. Pure and simple. She had to go for the good of the show. Emily is clearly not racist, the term iteslf is a horrible term, but nonetheless, using it in that context does not make one racist. If used with any malice, with the express purpose of causing offence, it is racism. When used in the way in which Emily used it, it is merely offensive. |
