Default How many rules have the PRODUCERS broken, or allowed HMs to break?

http://www.channel4.com/entertainmen.../bb-rules.html

Quote:
1) There is no contact with the outside world.

2) Housemates are filmed 24 hours a day and must wear personal microphones at all times.

3) The Diary Room is the only place in the House where Big Brother will acknowledge housemates individually.

4) Visits to the Diary Room are compulsory.

5) Nominations are compulsory.

6) Housemates must give frank and honest reasons for nominations.

7) It is not permitted to discuss nominations, or try to influence anyone else's nominations.

8) It is not permitted to discuss details of how they'd spend the prize money (if they were to win).

9) Eviction is decided by public vote.

10) All tasks and challenges are compulsory.

11) Housemates must not act violently towards any other housemate.

12) Housemates are free to leave the House at any time.

13) If any housemate breaks the rules they may be asked to leave the House.

14) THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE OF ALL: Big Brother reserves the right to change the rules at any time.

1, 3, 5 , 6 , 7, 8 , 9

That's 7/14... half of the rules have been broken by the show's very own producers. Possibly more if you read past the basic 14.

Yeah, but apparently...

14) THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE OF ALL: Big Brother reserves the right to change the rules at any time.

That's the most important. So if they want to make 5 out of the final 6 housemate ineligible to win, they can do that.

Yes, but they're not supposed to disregard the entire format.. changing a few things for a small twist is understandable, but it's insane..

Oh, I agree. If I had my way it would go back to something like Big Brother from series 1 - the first half of series 7 (it's been all downhill after that House Next Door nonsense with the exception of series 9)

These people are immune from criticism no matter how legitimate however. It's perfectly clear by now that they are the most inept people working in television.

I wonder if they're still given the welcome pack these days, I haven't seen or heard it mentioned for a few series. Because if they do then they've got to have taken almost all of these rules out or else the housemates would be like 'none of this ever happens'

You thought it went downhill after the house next door? I'm currently on episode 60 of season 7 (watching for the first time) and I haven't seen that personally.

It's just become a complete joke and it makes me rather sad!

Out of all of the English speaking BB's around the World i think ours used to be the best but now even the worst seasons of BB US (15) or BB Canada (3, the last one) still look extremely good compared to this pathetic drivel they're spewing out at the moment!

They really are having a massive ****ing laugh at our expense! Pitiful trash!!!!

If any other TV Show was 'managed' by its producers like this it would be taken off the air. I just don't even look forward to watching the episodes any more!

According to Preze from last CBB rule twelve was broken.

https://soundcloud.com/howardstern/p...ton_bigbrother

A Ditigal Spy poster put it up and claims - he wanted to leave four times but the TV execs stopped him (more likely talked him out of it.), the fourth time he left and got talked into going into the secret room and the whole thing was edited to looked like a task, as a cover up.

So he could have some time alone away from the house.

you are quoting rules for a show on a different channel. By definition of terms as the producers make the rules, and can change them at any time, as they see fit (and that was in the c4 rules too) they couldn't possibly have broken any rules

Ah if only I could watch bb7 for the first time again - jealous! It may have gone down hill a bit but it was still brilliant. Hope u enjoy it.

Regarding the rule breaking, didnt they used to say that diary room conversations would be kept confidential from other housemates? Theres another one that gets disregarded on a regular basis

The producers have basically destroyed Big Brother and turned it into a totally unrecognisable show. They didn't completely stick to those rules on Channel 4 from series 5 onwards but at least it wasn't as bad as it is now.

Channel Fail Big Brother's producers think they can gain viewers by getting the most horrendous housemates possible then coming up with terrible ideas but they're failing and the show continues to lose viewers all the time.

Influencing other people's nominations is awful I've been yelling at the TV every time it happens so infuriating.

Well you may as well just stop watching then. Big Brother could change the rules to make it 100% scripted and not have to tell anyone by that logic.. would that be defensible?

I think it's been too ashamed to show its face ever since Vinnie Jones got his hands on it.

Yes, I thought the HND was a totally unnecessary twist that brought in a group of pointless housemates that no one remembers. They had already brought 2 new housemates in with Aisleyne and Sam and that was more than enough.

Up until that series Big Brother usually had about 12 - 14 housemates. The 6th would have had 15 with Eugene and Orlaith, but the latter left and was replaced by Kinga. So 16 in total. That was arguably excessive.

Big Brother 7 had 21 housemates in total. Big Brother 8 had 22 (23 if you count the twins as 2). The show started to run for longer, so it is somewhat understanable, but this was when things started getting out of hand.

I think it is at least partially scripted already with house mates given suggestions on how to behave. how far that actually goes, I have no idea, but its gone far enough now for me not to take the program seriously anymore.

The cast selected for this series in particular are very shallow and unlikeable individuals and without likeable characters with a bit of depth to them, there is no show, no matter what twists, fixes or changes in rules the producers apply. That's why I'm personally past caring what house shaking drama the producers dredge up next.

They moved the welcome pack onto a tablet last year iirc, along with the instructions for tasks. I think that the housemates also do the shopping list on that now as well. Although, it's worth mentioning that a copy of the rules have never been published for the public to see since the move to Channel 5.

These people are immune from criticism no matter how legitimate however. It's perfectly clear by now that they are the most inept people working in television.
Who can forget the utterly ludicrous "halfway house" in BB8 in 2007. The producers just kept switching the people in it and altering the rules until the right people came into the house.

They have been fixing this show for at least 8 years. They just do it more blatantly now.

I felt there was a dramatic change from about late BB7 to BB8. The 5th and 6th series were pretty good, but the producers just got completely out of control after that, with the 9th being the only somewhat decent series.
