Frequent outside contact - good or bad?
In my view: It forces housemates to modify their behaviors and game plans.. They act as what public want them to, not the authentic themselves.. |

Can I get a witness?

Bad, although the outside contact has not been as bad as last year when they really didn't care (see: focus group task)

Just don't randomly tell them on Day 4 who the 3 most popular housemates are, because then no one nominates them

Bad, but sadly it isn't even one of the major negative points about the show any more

Very bad. Wrecks the format of the show (housemates being put into a house without contact with the outside world)

Favourite housemates if a series is excluded, then I haven't watched it or don't currently have a favourite. Spoiler: |

Bad, they should know nothing of the outside world.

The premise of Big Brother, and the entire point to why it was created in the first place, was to show how a group of strangers react without contact from the outside world.
It's not even Big Brother anymore. Last edited by Ashley.; 05-07-2015 at 12:20 PM. |

Not just bad but sadly necessary, ....if the House Mates had been just left with NO contact at all from the real world then i think they would have formed a peace and love commune and would all be having babies by now ...sadly this year they are a free loading bunch who are just exploiting Big Brother, its the wrong way round,,,the tail is wagging the dog....thank god for Mark...it was him who saved the show not the so called legends....
The legends ruined the show for me, they were the wrong choice...and stole it from this years housemates...what a selfish bunch they really were ....and who ever had the bright idea of ever putting Helen back on TV should have their balls roasted.....she is aggressive, unintelligent and deluded..has no sense of humour or emotional intelligence and lacks any ability to reflect herself.... Also aggressive were Brian and Danny....who, when their own intellect can't process the confrontation of the game, they become violent instead. Most of this years lot are devoid of any sense of humour and take themselves too seriously...that is why Mark met with such hostility ...apart from Nick, Joel and Jade they rest of the house weren't intelligent enough to respond to him and understand his genius |

Bad, but there are bigger problems with the show at the moment.
I hate outside contact tasks on the first week, like Jack being voted the most popular near the start of the series resulted in people staying away from nominating him, which defeats the object of the show (not that they stick to the point of the show these days). |

BAD very very BAD.
i remember the days when new housemates went in, and would be punished along with all the other housemates if they dared to talk about anything from the outside world relating to the house! now its just a free for all to discuss whatever they like! though i would go a step further and have absolutely ZERO outside contact - i dont think they should even be allowed to hear the crowd. go back to the days where davina would go into an indoor studio to announce the evictee. we all know Big Brother has changed/is changing, however the no outside contact rule is fundamental to the show and is actually one thing they could easily keep in place, if the producers had a brain cell between them that is.... |

Ideally there would be none but I don't really care anymore, a series can still be good with outside contact. However a series struggles to be good with all the other problems like the manipulation and no lf and abysmal housemates.

It essentially stops anything interesting from naturally happening because people are stopped from fully immerse themselves into the experience as they are constantly aware of the public and scared to do anything because of how they may be perceived.

Totally bad. It always was part of the BB experience that housemates all entered the house at the same time and were given no outside influence as to how they were coming across. That's how it should be. Why should some be briefed as to how they are coming across and consequently adjust their behaviour accordingly or be told what someone else is saying about them.
