Default America : The House has voted to Block Syrian Refugees

America does not trust them.

[More than half the nation's governors -- 27 states -- say they oppose letting Syrian refugees
into their states, although the final say on this contentious immigration issue will fall to the federal government. ]

I believe only families should be let in.

If your a young single traveller then that's a definite no for me.

I agree Adam. At least in the short-term.

now on hold

[President Barack Obama has threatened to veto the bill,
but many of his Democratic political allies
defected to help approve the measure

if Obama vetoed the bill and something then happened, it would put an end to any democrat campaign for the presidency

Thank goodness Canada has a new gov't in power, or we would be following suit I am afraid.

There really is no need to block genuine refugee familes, just single men in their teens to 40's - in tandem with much more diligent checks at point of entry and close surveillance and monitoring of any 'borderline' cases who appear 'iffy'.

Let's be honest - up to now most 'asylum seekers' HAVE been young males.

I have just watched one lucky Syrian refugee who is already in the USA with his four sons and it is so patently obvious that he is a genuine refugee. It was moving when he described losing his baby child and when he expressed his gratitude to the US for taking him and his children in.

It is tragic, but it is ISIS to blame.
