Yeah same, I wasn't bothered about the ban in bars or restaurants but banning smoking outside isn't on imo

Superbly put. My generation started smoking in the first place because it was the 'social norm' and was deemed 'cool' thanks to massive conditioning via glossy advertising on hoardings, in magazines and newspapers, adverts on TV and in cinemas, and even thanks, in no little part, to most of the top film and TV stars - male AND female - smoking in films and in TV programs. Various UK Government policy regarding smoking is, and always has been - as you so rightly intimate - disgustingly hypocritical. It was not that long ago, that pubs and clubs had 'Public Bars', 'Snugs', 'Concert Rooms' AND 'Smoking Rooms' - a system which worked admirably well, with no one who did not smoke being forced to sufferer 'second-hand' smoke and all its undoubted health risks and unpleasantness, yet no smoker was made to feel like a criminal and forced to smoke outside in all weathers. You are absolutely correct again Joey.

I would say a lot moreso Joey when you consider the amount of cars on the road, I am an ex smoker , I gave up 11 years ago now , but if people want to smoke that is up to them , and if they are smoking outside ,I see no problem as while we have cars , lorries etc , we wont be any healthier.

Surely a public place is a public place and as long as nothing illegal is being done, why any need for extra laws, especially ones that would prohibit an actual legal act anyway. |

Under bus shelters that usually are open at the bottom of them and then have 2 sides open as well. However what a stupid rule anyway, since just take 2 steps outside the bus shelter and its legal to smoke there, as if the smoke couldn't possibly find its way under the bottom or the open sides. Ridiculous and the nanny state gone mad in my view. |

The reason smoking exists is to do with the fact that sub 40 humans have little concept of mortality so they can smoke like pigs and dont care
by the time they get to 40 and start to realise they will die its too late Thus it must be banned outright |

Eventually it will be banned,Just not for a while. It's already being slowly phased out with the messages on packets, ciggies being hidden behind doors in shops, banned in public buildings etc.The state are just slowly grooming people into acceptance of banning it.Smokers are slowly becoming a minority. It will take a few generations but it will happen when so little people smoke that it's not profitable for the country.
Of course they will never stop people smoking as they will just get them on the black market but as companies stop making them then quality will go down. Personally i'm all for people to make their own choices in life.Cigs are more dangerous than many drugs. If we are going to keep ciggies legal then we should just make all drugs legal. It is hypocritical to let people take one or two lethal drugs but not others.
