Over the past 2 nights I've rewatched Rob Zombie's Halloween series. The first one is okay although I hate the characters, but I hated the second one. Don't get why people love the second one so much.

I watched PA6 tonight, what an awful film (posted a review in the "what movie did you last watch" thread).
Such a shame, the first was great (didn't see it in cinema) whilst the next two after that were fantastic cinema experiences imo. I don't think we're gonna have a film that spreads from word of mouth like the first one did for a very long time. Last edited by Jake.; 09-10-2016 at 02:08 AM. |

H2 is the worst film in the franchise. Well it's joint with Halloween Resurrcraption.

I subscribed to Shudder.com last night to watch Frankenhooker and Hellraiser 1 and 2. They have a great selection if you're into cult classics, b-horror and foreign. Gonna do Nekromantik tonight. Haven't seen it in years.

H1 > H2 > H4 > H20 > H6 > RZH > H3 > H5 > HR > RZH2
Halloween 3 is good if you look at it as a standalone 80s horror film and not part of a Michael Myers franchise otherwise it's weaker in comparisons to the films that do have Michael in. I hope the new one is better than Rob Zombie's remakes, the fact that John Carpenter is directing / involved gives me some hope. But then the director of Halloween 2 (the original) is the same person who gave us the insult that is Halloween Resurrection. But then this is JC so I'm still a tad optimistic. |

It's such a camp classic. Wanna date? Going out? Looking for some action? Got any money?

You could kind of see it. As much as it's the second best film it doesn't really go anywhere and although setting it on the same night helps the feel, he didn't really do anything with any of the characters. Laurie spends like the whole time in a coma until the chase scene and none of the others are developed.

What do people think is the best era for horror movies?
Some of my favourite horrors come from the 70's/80's but I'd probably say the late 90's/early 00's resurgence that Scream started is my favourite era overall because there were so many great ones.

Late-90's / post-Scream era would definitely be a close second, especially being a massive slasher fan and having a slew of teen horror films coming out one after the other (The Craft, Scream, IKWYDLS, Urban Legend, The Faculty, Halloween H20, Idle Hands, Disturbing Behaviour, Final Destination, Cherry Falls, Valentine etc). Plus I grew up when all these films came out so it's nostalgic for me. It was the last good period of horror really before the remakes took over the mid/late-00's and the supernatural craze taking over the 10's. Last edited by Jason.; 23-10-2016 at 04:40 PM. |
