Default Segregation of women on trains because of male behaviour

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017...le-labour-mps/

I disagree with this in principle because, as mentioned in the article, it amounts to segregating and punishing women for male behaviour. And although it is a minority of 'men' that behave this way it is totally unacceptable.

Maybe we should be asking more questions about what type of men are doing this and why there has been such an increase in this type of behaviour more recently?

If there is sufficient evidence suggesting there is a direct relationship between this behaviour and men from certain 'backgrounds' maybe we can introduce carriages for men from certain backgrounds instead. See how well that goes down!!

Do we want to end up with this?

It is one Labour MPs view, not the Labour Party's.
This was looked at in 2015 and thrown out.

It is a ridiculous idea, however people should be safe on public transport and be protected from things like this.
So perhaps more staff or guards on trains are needed.

It seem a bizarre solution to men who attack women on trains and I can't see how it would even be possible to enforce anyway.

On trains in general no, on the last train out of the city on a Friday / Saturday night - I totally get it. They are ****ing horrendous, full of drunken louts shouting comments or even grabbing at female passengers. Some of the women too clearly enjoy it all as part of their "night out" but others are clearly very uncomfortable.

So yeah, I can see the logic of having a "safe" car on those late trains. Not that people are at any huge physical risk, I don't think, but being harassed like that can't be fun even if no one is actually going to attack you .

Well, would you take that job? It would be horrendous, you'd effectively have to be trained as a bouncer, probably work in a two-man team, and even then I don't think many would do it unless they were getting a lot more than min wage.

If that's what they need to do, then they should do it. Remember the 'Guardian Angels' that used to patrol New York tubes late into the night? They worked so why don't we have something similar over here... too much red tape I'm guessing!

Its not only women who get abused though. One of my sons was beaten up just for looking towards a drunk guy who was making a lot of noise. He was 13 at the time but because he was tall for his age and had broad shoulders, he was deemed big enough and broad enough to take that beating. I can honestly say that if I was a lone man on a train full of aggressive guys, I'd feel just as vulnerable as a female.

If they are going to provide safe spaces, they need to do so for loan travelers regardless of sex.

So sorry to hear that about your son DR, that's my worst fear, 13 I hope they were caught!

I'm not really for it as with adequate CCTV you would think that would be an appropriate deterrent to catch abusers, mind you when the train is packed who's to say whose hand is whose?

So the left's view of how the world should be is men and women can go to the same restroom together but they can't ride together on the train? Now that doesn't make a lot of sense!

No, that's just your spin of how ''the left's view of the world should be'' which is just as skewed as your views on transgender people, homosexuality, the holocaust, race and the 'rights' of Nazi's to freely incite hatred.

''Liberty''...........yeah right!

You forgot that I support the right of people to worship Satan if they choose (I'm sure you like that one).
