Default ITV3 to air classic Corrie episodes

Quote:
Rejoice, fans of consistently suffering people with Northern accents! ITV is bringing classic episodes of Coronation Street to spin-off channel ITV3 from next month.

Starting on October 2, the broadcaster will be playing two episodes of the long-running soap every weekday, at 2.40pm and 3.15pm. Basically, when you should be going to pick the kids up from school. Thank God for catch-up and recording, eh?

We won't be going right back to the start though, 'Classic Corrie' will be digging up episodes from 1986 onwards, starting with the debut of legendary soap baddie Alan Bradley.

While Alan bit the bucket in 1989, two characters closely related to him are still in the show and had important stories as recently as... tonight, actually.

Jenny, who is marrying Johnny today, is Alan's daughter, while Rita, who is currently in hospital with a brain tumour, was the woman that Alan, errr, tried to murder multiple times.

Not only is ITV bringing us classic episodes of its most famous soap (sorry, Emmerdale!) but they have just launched the Wednesday double-bills, meaning the show now airs 16 episodes a week (6 new, 10 old) and that's not even counting the +1 channels.
