I also think the media and oppositions are liars aswell,so much fake news and manipulation, a good example is here
,the girl was NOT separated from her mom,more lies from the press.

No where near as much. I admit there are lies told by the media too but Donnie's lies are on another level and, as I say, things you can check in less than a minute. I think a ten year old would think they couldnt get away with some of the lies Donnie tells.

Agree. It is like nothing we've seen in democratic countries. He did a couple of half hour press conference a week or so ago and told in excess of 30 lies yet the press are only telling about the five biggest. Or should I say, what they consider to be the five biggest

I would admit it would be a bit dry if they listed the lies over and over again but I think its needed. So many lies are going unchallenged.

Because the lies he tells are exactly what his fans want to hear, and it gives them a short term warm and fuzzy feeling to go through their day believing that he was "spot on". The truth doesn't really matter. It's all about the short term "feel good" payoff, that they will then associate with Trump. Pavlovian stuff that works on small minds.

Its terrifying to me that people actually agree with what he is doing and rationalize it. Its beyond defensible. I have actually genuinely removed people from facebook over this issue and will not speak to them in real life when I see them either. I never remove people for personal opinions that differ from mine as variety is the spice of life and all of that, I even put up with some people posting Britain First type 'Muslims are coming for our xmas' type posts, though I do argue with them over it. But I simply cannot muster the energy to argue on this topic with people who agree with him separating kids from parents and basically holding babies hostage in cages so that he gets his own way. Its utterly barbaric, and I want nothing to do with anyone who supports it in any way. I cannot believe anyone would defend this. Or I would like to believe such people would be as rare as hens teeth, but its surprising how many seem to agree with him because 'nasty immigrants'.

Edit. That it went on under Obama is neither here nor there, but it seems there was a different set of circumstances and it was nowhere near as many children. It seems that the previous admininstration kept kids who were trying to cross alone, or in case of suspected abuse/smuggling..not that they sent the parents away and kept the kids as hostages, as negotiating tools, as if they aren't real ****ing people. If Obama was purposely separating children from parents to hold them hostage to get his own way with something, I would say he was a ****ing gross vile bastard too. The rationalizing and minimizing and deflecting from the issue at hand in this thread has kind of turned my stomach, I had only read up to the quoted post when I replied, I honestly did not think people on here would be defending this, regardless of where their political alliances lie. But of course, I was wrong on that. I won't be back to the thread..as I just find some of the replies utterly disgusting. Different opinions are great, its good to be able to argue with people in this section, however this is something I really feel there shouldn't be any disagreement on at all. And that there is..well...I guess its my problem, not anyone elses

I am surprised by how strong my feelings are about this actually. people on here know I tend to suffer an empathy bypass, though still have a sense of right and wrong (cheers mam and dad) but I do have very very strong feelings on this, which is quite alien to me. I have never ever been totally unable to tolerate different opinions on any topic in this section before..even stuff thats personal to me such as abortion issues, but on this, I really cannot stand it. maybe its because I genuinely can see the parallels with Nazi Germany, and no thats not an exaggeration at all.

And yes, the thread maybe went a bit off topic. But threads develop naturally, and the wall is connected to this kids thing anyway so its not totally off topic. And no it won't be closed just because many people disagree with someones posts, which seems to be whats requested.

Dehumanisation, it's sad how far we've slipped in such a short time. Can you remember the story from a few years ago of the immigrant crisis and the child that washed up dead on the shore? That led to so much compassion and empathy towards the plight of immigrants but if that were to happen today, you know people would not be sympathetic at all because we're being told that these people are second class people, that they are vermin.

People are justifying this child abuse by saying it's the parents' fault or even doubting it exists as it's been the case in this thread. It's honestly ****ed how we are so willing to repeat mistakes and actions that should never be repeated. Humanity is ****ed.

People will be pulling for firing squads at the borders next. It just goes to show that, no matter how much progress we make, it's so ****ing easy to slide back when one moron convinces a bunch of other morons that his lies are more important than reality.

Whilst I don't condone parting families,I do understand the notion if you break the law,you don't take your kids to prison with you and effectively the people trying to get in illegally are breaking the law.If you want to keep your family together go to the country legally or somewhere else.They can't be using kids to break any laws.

You're pushing the idea that these people are using their kids for a free citizenship when that's rarely, if ever, the case.

These people know they are taking a risk and if legal immigration is not an option then how desperate must their situation be to take those risks? Too many people are so quick to believe the 'Immigrants just want to sponge off benefits lol' spin that they close themselves to the truth. These are mostly desperate people doing what they can for their families.

It's not hardened criminals or smugglers that are being subjected to this, it's innocent children and families who just want a chance.
