What would be the point? I mean, we'd all pretty much be dust, and the world would be in ruin, what is the point in contributing to the end of mankind with more nukes? By that point the world as we know it is over. Launching nukes at that point is just making sure all humans die.

can a nuclear missile actually be destroyed whilst in flight? I know we have a defence system. Ignore the movies, I dont think we can stop these missiles once launched and we cant stop meteorites either

When you break it down how insane is this world and the idiots running it....endless wars, endless famine ,a single footballer paid 1000 times as much per week as a fireman? literally trillions more spent on bombs than on feeding the starving and enough bombs to blow up the entire world 1000000 times over

There are anti ICBM systems, I think only the US and Russia have working ones though and the Russian one specifically protects Moscow rather than the country. Effectiveness is another question though. Missiles can be blown up in flight or downed (effective for the US as they'd likely be coming in over the Pacific so can safely-ish be crashed into the ocean) but, basically, if you're talking full scale multiple launches, it would only be able to take down a few and most would get through.

In other words, if NK launched one little nuke at the US it would probably be downed. If Russia and the US started firing their stockpiles at each other, it would be as much use as a pea-shooter.

Strong points Chewy.

Again I am reminded of a song from the 1960s I have on a cd by Barry Maguire.
It's called Eve of Destruction.
A line says, '' once the button is pushed, there's no running away, there'll be no one to save with the World in a grave''.

Terrifying thought.

Really, REALLY! do you have any idea how ignorant you sound?

Everyone, including Thatcher, wanted a peace resolution but it was Corbyn and his staff under the instruction of Mo Mowlan, that brought about Irish unity and an end to the long war. Corbyn played a big hand in stopping British citizens getting their legs blown off on the way home from work and he played a big hand in the ending of 'kneecapping' in NI and all you have to say is he sucked dick...WTF

Know your history and stop reading the tabloids that piggy-back nonsense reports off one another.

I don't care what you or anyone thinks. so that's not an issue.

I believe all 3 will have been present at some sordid special event. That is where i begin my research.

I also believe the IRA at the end was so ****ed up with drugs they had no other option but seek a peace agreement.

The cowards and traitors at the head of government at the time basically pardoned some truelly evil people for the sake of it.

And if they hadn't, where would we be now... still in the long war?

Then the shadow defence secretary on the Daily Politics today trying to smooth it out and totally contradicting Corbyn.

It's embarrassing to spectate

Why would anyone nuke us? there is currently no real risk of that happening.

Yeah. Not like he warned us all that bombing and invading Iraq along with meddling in Libya and Syria would result in more terrorists or anything...

France has a nuke, they are 25 miles away. It only takes one to end the world.

Ah ok, so we should just leave terrorism alone until it self combusts! More lives will be lost in the waiting but collateral damage is better than trying to work out strategies that will stop lone wolf attacks.

The IRA were a side kick from the Irish civil war and hadn’t surrendered their arms since 1919. They had been blowing the Brits up since 1931 and we all know that there main intent was to rid Ireland of British rule. If we need to prosecute Sinn Fein for terrorist atrocities we need to do the same with President Clinton and his then government, who are well known for looking after Sinn Fein’s interests. At best they sympathized with the IRA and at worst, the U.S. NSC were aiding their cause with money and weapons. Popular opinion in the U.S. were very much behind the IRA but it appears that we forgive them.

As for the Good Friday Agreement, started by the Conservatives and concluded by Labour we at last found a solution for dismantling the IRA, (well thank fcuk for that) and the people involved in bringing about that agreement are now being called traitors by the ignorant few.

Are people at a loss as to what diplomats do?... They use diplomacy to solve issues before they escalate to violence.

What could anyone have against that, is the concept of a civil society lost in the UK?

Whether in agreement with Corbyn or not on Nuclear weapons, he would place himself as more unilaterally and always has,no change from him at all.
I'd prefer to see the things done away with and someone needs to start a serious attempt to get that ball rolling.
Corbyn will be bound by Labour Party policy anyway.

I found his interview with Marr fine, it appears to some,no matter what he says he will never get any credit for being right, even when he is.

It comes across at times that policies that will devastate areas of other Nations,(unless it's a Labour govt.doing so),also investing massive funding for nuclear programmes,(which could wipe out all races),and finally policies of robbing already agreed entitlements from the sick and disabled, even those terminally sick too.
Are policies people will support, policies which all come from this present Conservative party.
Not content to increase interference in other Nations, invest in the possible world destruction nuclear set up, destroy the lives of sick and disabled people, this awful lot with a greater majority, would also turn their venom to wildlife too,by making legal again foxhunting for instance.

The appetite of this present PM and her truly uncompromising and heartless govt.to inflict misery seems to now have no boundaries whatsoever.

If you are told a lie (national tabloids) repeatedly and you give yourself no opportunity to further research those lies, you will believe what you are told...

Here's a man who wants to give more power to the people; a man who wants more fairness for working class Britain and who wants to find diplomatic solutions with known terrorist groups in an attempt to stop what our current government have miserably failed to do and the very people who need him the most; the serfdom; the people who have been hoodwinked, are calling him a monster and a terrorist dick sucker.

There's no hope. More and more of us are becoming enthusiastic captives of neo-liberalism. It reminds me of that alien film when they are all standing looking up at the blue light and shouting, "WE LOVE YOU" just before they're evaporated.
