Seeing as the soaps have obviously been affected by BGT, I thought I'd post how BGT performed throughout last week, too:
Monday 7 May 2012 The second live semi-final of Britain's Got Talent neared 10 million last night with timeshift figures included, according to overnight data. The ITV1 reality show grabbed 9.4m (35.6%) from 7.30pm with a further 384k (1.5%) on +1 - an improvement over figures for the opening semi-final. The results show took 8.35m (32.4%) from 9.30pm (+1: 343k/2.1%).

Britain's Got Talent's results show overpowered The Apprentice last night, according to overnight data. The latest semi-final results averaged 7.01m (27.3%) from 9.30pm (+1: 364k/2.3%) while Lord Sugar's reality show generated 5.94m (22.9%) in the 9pm hour. The Apprentice, however, maintained consistent week-on-week (only slightly dropping from 6.1m the previous Wednesday) despite tougher competition last night in its timeslot. Britain Got Talent's main show recovered from its slump on Tuesday (May 8) by logging in 8.97m (37.6%) from 7.30pm and 206k (0.8%) on timeshift.

Britain's Got Talent saw a sharp rise for its last semi-final results show last night (May 10), early overnight data reveals. ITV1's main show slipped slightly to 8.72m (36.6%) from 7.30pm (+1: 249k), but Ryan O'Shaughnessy and Aquabatique's progression to the final was seen by 7.96m (30.2%) at 9.30pm (+1: 274k). However, the results shows have overall underperformed, with ratings unexpectedly down on last year's semi-final week.

So not a great week of ratings from BGT, particularly in comparion to previous years, with only Saturday redeeming the whole week, to be honest. I'll post some more ratings for BGT (from previous years) later.

It was just the fact that BGT obviously had an effect on the ratings for the soaps, so I posted them for the sake of seeing the actual competition...which, as we can see, wasn't too immense...

Monday 21 May 2012
Coronation Street topped the soap ratings on Monday evening (May 21) with Eva Price's misguided revenge attempt, overnight figures show. Coronation Street pulled in 8.05m (38.7%) at 7.30pm and 175k (0.8%) on +1 as Eva sabotaged Nick's big event at the Bistro, while 8.16m (35.0%) watched at 8.30pm and 310k (1.4%) on timeshift as the blonde's wrong suspicions led to chaos on the cobbles. EastEnders, meanwhile, attracted 7.16m (32.3%) at 8pm as Ian ploughed ahead with plans to marry Mandy and leave Walford. BBC Three's repeat screening had 613k (3.2%) at 10pm. Emmerdale picked up 5.59m (33.8%) for ITV1 at 7pm (+1: 184k), while EastEnders could only muster a mediocre audience of 6.41m (35.3%), for its first showing at 7.30pm, but a hefty 961k (5.1%) joined the Albert Square soap at 10pm on BBC Three. Their relatively stable audience shares (%) suggest the dips were typical of many of last night's programming.

Emmerdale was Wednesday evening's (May 23) most-watched soap as the Robbie Lawson storyline continued, overnight figures show. The ITV1 serial pulled in 5.72m (34.8%) at 7pm and 192k (1.0%) on +1 as Megan Macey lashed out at half-brother Declan upon hearing that he had been contacting Robbie in secret.

Coronation Street was Thursday's (May 24) most-watched soap on another relatively low-rating evening, overnight figures show. Coronation Street pulled in 6.83m (32.9%) at 8.30pm and 289k (1.4%) on timeshift as Kirsty became violent with Tyrone for a second time. EastEnders, meanwhile, attracted 6.32m (36.2%) at 7.30pm as Ian's worrying behaviour continued. BBC Three's repeat screening secured a strong 775k (5.3%) at 10.30pm. Emmerdale interested 5.24m (33.2%) at 7pm with Val's return to the village, while 5.73m (30.2%) tuned in at 8pm and 191k (1.0%) on +1 to see the subsequent fallout for Eric, Amy and Brenda. Once again, the stable audience shares (%) for the big three soaps suggest that the dips in raw numbers were caused by fewer people watching television due to the sunny weather.

Once again, I've just copied and pasted, as I just can't be bothered transfering all that information into channel sections and a decent amount of decimal places and all that for a week and a bit's worth of episodes.

I'm guessing the low ratings are due to the weather?

Yeah, but the good thing is the shares (%) are still stable, which just proves that more people are making the most of the sunshine instead of watching television. Normally, 6.5m would be around 30% but throughout the week that 30% has been more suited to fit 34-36% because about 4-6% of people aren't watching television.

Coronation Street has bucked the trend in the ratings as its Friday 8.30pm episode rose week-on-week to 7.9 million. Warm weather has affected all the soaps this week, but its later edition - which saw Carla try to bribe Leanne over Simon - grabbed 7.65m (37.7%) and 281k on ITV1 +1. Meanwhile at 7.30pm, Tyrone's fury at Kirsty's violence was seen by 7.11m, commanding an impressive share of 40.3% at 7.30pm, with an extra 138k watching on timeshift. EastEnders logged 5.97m (32.1%) at 8pm and and 622k (3.4%) for 10pm's BBC Three repeat for Ian Beale's disastrous wedding day. The EastEnders Omnibus, which aired at midnight, took an increased audience of 333k (8%). Emmerdale interested 5.35m (34.5%) at 7pm and 115k on ITV1 +1 for Pollard's romantic dilemma, while Callum's troubles in Hollyoaks were watched by 645k (4.5%) at 6.30pm.

Solid share for Coronation Street's first edition [7.11m (40.3%)], but abysmal ratings for EastEnders. The fact that it's on the same million level as Emmerdale isn't good.
