Manchester United and Arsenal face fight to sign Costa Author: Andrew Allen Posted on: 29 June 2009 - 11:44 PM Category: Football Comments: Be the first to comment Manchester United and Arsenal face a tough battle to secure the signature of teenage sensation Douglas Costa after Bayern Munich were reported to have made a move to sign him. Costa, just 18, is regarded as one of the best young talents in the world and has already been described as the new 'Ronaldinho'.Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to replace Cristiano Ronaldo and Costa's agent Cesar Bottega recently said he was on United's shortlist. Arsene Wenger is also keeping tabs on the Gremio youngster, but both managers will have to make their move quickly if they want to secure his signature. Costa has also been targeted by a big German club, believed to be Bayern Munich and could make a lucrative move in the next few days. Bottega said: "There was an approach from a big German club. They saw him at the South American Youth Championship and liked the player. "There have been talks and we will see what happens in the next week." Manchester United are believed to have wanted Costa on a trial period, but that move was turned down by Gremio president Duda Kroeff. Bottega added: "I received a phone call from someone working for Manchester United, he asked for Douglas to be released [for a trial period] and said that he would not play, but that they wanted to see him in action. I said to them that this will not happen. "Douglas is not at a stage where he would go through such a situation. He is an established player, he is not a stranger. He has no need to face tests at European clubs." The Brazil Under-20 international has a minimum release clause of Ł21m and it remains doubtful whether Ferguson or Wenger would pay so much money for such a young player. 21m? We wont buy him, could buy melo for that! |

Arsenal, Villa, Bolton & Man City all set to hold talks with Ł12 million Portuguese midfielder Arsenal, Villa, Bolton & Man City all set to hold talks with Ł12 million Portuguese midfielder Posted by Cathal Breathnach on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 9:02 PM It has been claimed today that Arsenal, Aston Villa, Bolton and Manchester City will all hold talks with Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso. The Portuguese international has been linked with a move to the Premier League for quite some time now, however for whatever reasons he remains a Sporting player, but that may be about to change. Veloso, 23, is desperate to join an English club during the summer transfer window and with four clubs now vying for his signature, a move looks a strong possibility. Whoever does eventually sign Veloso will have to cough up at least Ł12 million and in my opinion, at that price, he would prove great value for money. He is still quite young, he can play in a variety of different positions and he has Champions League experience. Personally, I think Martin O'Neill should do all he can to convince Veloso to go to Villa Park cause at the moment, he could really use a quality midfield player. Stay tuned to Football Corner for all the latest developments on this and more over the coming days and weeks. Veloso is great he would be great if we dont sign melo! Possibly better. |

We dont have the ambition to buy Benzema. We'll sell Adebayor and buy Melo and finish fourth again.

Why have we already put in a 30m bid then.
I hope we do as it would massively help the team. We will finish top 3. I hate how much doubt Arsenal fans have first 2 mins of the game My dad is always like ohh they are so ****... They could play good for 88 mins and hed still complain. |

That bid is just a rumour. Besides when do Arsenal ever buy established players like him, we only got Arshavin cuz no one else was looking at him and what a fiasco with his wages. Arsenal have got to be the least ambitious of the top four club.
