If by that you mean the real Aussies people champ Clarke then he played very nicely and looked comfortable even though our bowlers weren't that bad today
If you mean Steve 'Three Lives' Smith then he did alright in the second fiddle role but is lucky to still be there Won't lie though they've set the Aussies up to be in a very good position, the pitch will only deteriorate from now too so they've made good use of it Last edited by MTVN; 01-08-2013 at 11:29 PM. |

Clarke is in a different class to the batters on both side. Only batter even close to him is Amla

Outside England Swann will rightfully never be considered one of the great spinners. Sure he is good bowling at the left handers however when he faces the truly great batters like Clarke and Amla he gets treated like a bitch
Warner what a legend lot of characters in this Aussie side

Has to be said the commentary on TMS is 100% more enjoyable then listening to the bore Strauss and co
Blowers Boycott Vaughen and Tuffnell own No lie Damian Martins voice over the radio gets me a bit hot under the collar

Hopefully the English media can now stop with there Jimmy is better then Dale nonsense. Not a bloody chance Dale would go for 0-120+ runs in his own backyard or in Amy ground period
No doubt Jimmy is good just not Dale good

Good on Aus showing what they didn't in India which is heart
As for England i know this will offend who support them but they are one of the main reasons the test format is in decline. Under Cook they have the most negative defensive approach to every bloody test match

England is pretty much the only country left where they still sell out test matches and tickets are in high demand, apart from them the only countries that care about test cricket are the Aussies and to a lesser extent India and SA, but even India care far more about ODIs and especially T20s now

That's all well and good but if the test format is going to survive you will need viewership from the big markets in Asia ala India and Pakistan and let's be honest nobody is going to tune in to watch England make 294 runs off 120 overs on a great batting wicket
Fair enough they are playing for a draw but as I said earlier under Cook they have the most negative defensive attitude in every game honestly I would say Zimbabwe are more exciting then watching Trott Bell and co scoring 50 runs off 280 balls

Well, I do agree that Cook is generally a pretty defensive captain and not that imaginative, but then his priority can only be to get the result England need and you can go too far the other way like a lot of teams now aren't able to adjust from the one day game to test cricket and play stupidly like the Aussies in the first two tests

Fair enough your right his main aim is to win. I'm just saying he/England are one of the main reasons test cricket is in decline and would argue like you suggested teams like Australia have gone too far in one direction that Cook has taken England too far in the other direction
There is being cautious and then there is being 294 off 120 overs going at under 2 runs an over

Why do the England fans keep on booing Warner???? Root tried to act the big bollox in front of the lads and got a slap. If anything Warner should be applauded Joe is a young lad and will learn from his mistakes

Very true Marc. But likewise only fools think they can mock others without receiving a consequence for there actions
Warner got his just desserts being banned from the first two matches and Root got his through getting a slap in the puss However these pantomime boos are getting tedious and should be saved for the Christopher Biggins of this world
