I honestly don't think the intent was racism, but it comes across that way. She's raised in the deep south so I don't even think she realizes why it might come across as racist... as her intent wasn't.

I just rewatched this season too, and I face palmed her saying it... but I honestly think she thought she was diffusing the situation with a compliment... in a very weird sort of way.
