Default Some Audition Pictures

This year's X Factor auditions took place all over the UK; in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff and Glasgow. Thousands of hopefuls of all ages braved the weather and the wait.

They all wanted to prove to judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh that they have what it takes to become a number one recording artist. For inspiration, they only need to look to boyband JLS.

But this year it's all changing. Not only do contestants have to face the judges, auditions are also taking place in front of a massive audience - just like Britain's Got Talent. Fans are invited to watch the chosen few battle it out at the boot camp stage as well. The remaining contestants will hope that spectators will also give them the change of getting one step closer to that all important prize of a one million pound recording contract. In our gallery, get a flavour of what's been going on.
