Default Afghanistan War - Why aren't the Governments telling the truth about Afghanistan?

The Taliban are involved in a huge drugs trade. If you check the records, the rise in drug use since the late 90s (the start of the war) has been huge and a large proportion of this is shipped from Afghanistan.

Here is a link from a long term research survey...

http://www.newstatesman.com/internat...istan-pakistan

A lot of talk is done about the drugs problem around the world but very little is said about Afghanistan which is akin to the new Central America in terms of Drugs trade.

And the problem would be greater if we let the Taliban take control.. More problems on the UK streets.

Have you not seen the countless docs about this? We always knew it. Where do you think Heroin comes from!!!! Gets to Turkey then straight through Europe.

Troops over there are helping farmers change, we leave too early and the Taliban gangs take control again with it the only income for farmers..

This is just one of many reasons why we can't leave yet and must make Afghanistan strong..

Wonder if Arista will post in here?..

The only thing the farmers have is Heroin poppies because the Taliban took everything else away.

Afghanistan has a rich history, one day when the Taliban are long gone due to a change of hearts and mind of the people, many might visit there to see the sites of its past like we do in Rome and Egypt.. Iraq being the same.

All that is a long way off and could happen in our lifetime, but the road is long..

It is a hard one, but when British born muslims hate us for doing what we are doing it is not good is it? Then take it to the extent of blowing themselves up.

Exactly, it only takes a minority, which is what the IRA was. But don't forget these are a powerul minority, indoctrined and willing to die for their religion. At any cost.

The troops need to come out now - most of the country want that now. The drugs issue is not a battle for the troops.

The polititians , the police, the courts etc - tighter controls, coming down much harder on all those involved - and much stiffer sentences for all the idiots out there stupid enough to take the stuff - without them there wouldn't be a market for it in the first place.

In Afghanistan? We pull out too soon then the Taliban get the green light to take control..

The Afghanistan army and police are no near ready to take on the Taliban supported by Iran.. (Known fact as our brave troops have caught many weapons that have came from Iran)

The taliban would become much stronger and with indirect help again from Iran will spill into Pakistan, major problems in that area would even cause more friction between Pakistan and India.

Plus Afghanistan would be a hub of terror groups to do as they please, oh and huge exports of drugs that will hit Europe and our streets.

If Afganistan was ready the troops would pull out and the main rebuilding of the nation would begin, right now the Taliban don't want that, the people don't want them back nor does the rest of the world.

Pulling out and leaving Afganistan to the wolves must not happen.

Don't disagree with some of what you say - but still feel that if each country did a better job of protecting its borders - border controls, immigration etc and much tighter laws to deal with the problem here - it is a battle that can be fought that way - as opposed to putting troops in Afghanistan. In my opinion - that is not the answer - just makes our troops a vulnerable target for those elements looking to kill more westerners.
