Last on: One Direction 17.38% Highest percentage of the whole show for them (Excluding final) Rebecca, Mary, Matt, Cher, One Direction then Matt 35.84 Mary 14.99 Cher 11.57 Rebecca 20.22 One Direction 17.38 ----------------------------------------------------- I purposely did not include the final. As the votes opened at the start of the show, meaning first/last whatever made not much difference. And during the final, most people have it set in their mind who they will be voting for anyway, regardless of performance Basically, with the exception of Paije in weeks 3&6...the 'death slot' has proved to be just that. Granted some of the acts havent left, but they have still done considerably worse in the voting :/ Second on is not good either. The pimp slot works wonders. Being last on DOES make a difference by the looks of it.

I'm gonna read this thread after I post but I just about went into hysteria thinking you'd done the exact same thing as me again Vicky; I've spent the past 45 minutes looking at the order they were called through and comparing that to how they ranked in the voting rofl.

Interesting, very interesting. What you've posted definitely highlights the more subtle ways of fixing the competition, it runs a lot deeper than positive/negative editing of contestants pre-competition. I was surprised, actually, that F.Y.D. were 14th in the voting despite being on first, and despite the increased number of acts, that's pretty impressive.

Thanks Vixen for all these statistics, its good to just see them and see the realities of the results of them with no real spin on them or other 'engineering' of them.
They tell the real story and it shows clerarly that even for the more successful acts, those early slots, singing first, can have a major negative effect on the votes they get,Just as being last on can really boost the positives for the act. Thank you again for doing them and sharing them with us. |

I think I'm correct in adding up, of all of those shows, only one (week 2) wasn't either Cheryl or Simon's act, and 6/8 were Cheryl's acts.

Em I think it makes a difference to the contestants who are in the middle popularity wise and downwards, I think the ones who are very popular it doesn't matter so much

maybe if we could see the figures for every single x-factor you might be able to draw some conclusions, but there probably isn't enough statistical data there to confirm it either way

I really wish they'd release the voting data for series 3 and 4, I don't really care about 1+2 but it would be interesting to compare Leona to Matt, see if she was doing well in the voting like Matt was.
