- Out of the franchise, the guys at Vatra Games like Silent Hill 2 the most thus, they are orientating on that game.
- GamePro was intrigued by Dan Licht, the new composer who took Akira Yamaoka’s place. They say it sounds like “a modern version of Akira Yamaoka’s work”. - The player will be put in various situations where he has to decide wether to help someone or let him die. - The puzzles are “really nice” and vary. - To prevent players from getting stuck, Murphy will talk to himself on the lowest difficulty level which will help players to find solutions to puzzles etc. - There will be a bunch of quick time events, however the game will not support Kinect or Move. - Combat and gameplay is pretty bad at this time of development, also the camera sometime moves like its being used “by a drunken monkey” Vatra promised to improve on that of course. - The game will be semi-open world. You will be able to explore the city, take side quests, or move on with the main quest. However, the player cannot visit any place in Silent hill from the very beginning. - There will be different endings.

Hey, at least you played one of the best ones , the original four a good, then 0rigins is kinda filler, Homecoming is fun, but kinda gung-ho American horror
Best thing is, each game has a new story, so you don't need to play any of the old ones

- Rain will signal when enemies are coming, you can either choose to fight them or hide until the rain passes.
- There will be collectables, such as money - At one point in the game, you can choose a variety of ways to tackle a locked door - such as using a rock to smash the lock, or using a crowbar. - Most parts of the enviroments will be useable as weapons - The subway system does not include a train, it includes dark twisting maintinence tunnels! - There will be choices in the game (Save a life or take a life) these will have consequences We should be getting new screenshots and a new trailer sometime soon

People are saying it looks like Alan Wake - I can sorta see the similarities in the woods area, though they do each have their own identity...plus there's the fact they're both mining towns based on a riverside...and both inspired by Twin Peaks

Konami's Tomm Hulett has waved aside "strong" fan criticism of exploration "short cuts" built into Silent Hill: Downpour, saying that complaints are the product of "misconception".
The new game (eighth in the series) stars Murphy Pendelton, an escaped convict unlucky enough to wander into the spooky Midwestern 'burg, and will return the series to the more open-ended level format offered by the original and first sequel. With the playing area reported to be much larger than that of any previous Silent Hills, Vata Games has designed a run-down subway system to offer fast travel between areas. Fans have slated the move, arguing that the inclusion of a subway cuts against the franchise's moody backwater ethos, but according to Hulett, their fears are misplaced. "We've noticed that the idea of a "Subway system" has really gotten a strong response from fans," the Konami producer told OXM in an interview. "I think there's a misconception that Murphy will be buying tickets and waiting on the platform for the 5:00 train to reach his destination." "It's a lot more 'Silent Hill' than all that. As you can see in the screenshots, along the way to a train platform Murphy will locate broken areas in the wall he can squeeze through." "These lead to service tunnels that he can traverse to reach other areas of town. So as you can see, the subway tunnels are 'shortcuts' that will speed up your town navigation - not literal train rides." Murphy will carry a town map, automatically updated with red arrows and crosses in keeping with series tradition, and devotees can expect "plenty of nods to past Silent Hills" in the environments. Look out for more from Hulett shortly in the form of a mighty OXM feature. In the meantime, here are some screenshots and concept arts to chew over. Keep tuning that radio. ______________________________ Also in a podcast interview with 'Silent Hill Experienced', writer, Tom Waltz detailed the amount of exploration in the game, stating that there will be dozens of side quests in each playthrough that will adapt to your playing style ala Shattered Memories Also, running water will apparently symbolise the need to RUN LIKE HELL! As a preview details a scene when the rain starts coming, you're left with the choice to fight the creatures or hide until it's passed
