Do you hope to live to be 100 years old? I could see some people not wanting to get that old.

I think I only want to live until I have realised all my ambitions. I have no children so don't have a need to look after them. I have done most things I ever wanted.

Going to Easter Island to look at the Moai is the only thing I can invent in my head

I would think a lot of people when young say no but as they get to well in their 60s they then hope to live as long as they can.

At being 19 now the age of 100 seems an eternity away, my own thoughts are that if I still had all my mental strength and was not a heavy burden to anyone then I would be okay with living to 100.

If I had any Dementia or needed help with every little thing then no I would hate that.

I and other Students were however talking a few weeks ago to a former Professor of the UNI who is now 97,his insight to the past was incredible and he looked nothing like in his 90s and still walked unaided.If I was like that, definately yes, to living to be 100.

As long as I could walk, talk and **** by myself then I wouldn't mind, but if I was suffering from various physical and mental problems then I definitely wouldn't.

@ 45 I don't give a sugary shiese of death - I think it depends on what you wish to do with your life. As posted above, if mine came to an end tomorrow, the only thing I'd regret is not doing that on Easter Island.

If you had serious dementia, you wouldn't realise what a pain you were being to loved ones or the people who have to wipe your arse. The disease name is a clue doh!

I think having children is the thing that differentiates 19 year old kids from adults. The adults I know will hold onto life for their offspring or granddughters/sons.

My Great Grandad was still living indepedently on his own (although obviously with help from neighbours and stuff) when he was 100, could still walk and talk & by all accounts had a pretty good standard of living. Even when he eventually moved in with my Grandma he still did a lot by himself right up to his death, if I was like him then I'd happily live to 100. I wouldnt mind if I didnt though

Many people with the onsets of mild to moderate Dementia DO realise they have big problems, they worry constantly that they are burdens on people and get worked up by that.
I know that because I help out with a Dementia care charitable organisation.
They function in some ways but are anxious all the time that they are burdening people,they also believe wrongly that they are a pain to others, I get that all the time from those I visit, that they feel they are a big nuisance to me.

Clearly anyone with serious and greatly advanced Dementia would not be aware of that though as Claymores said.

In light of Dementia,if I had that high Dementia condition coming on then no I would not want to live to be 100 and end up completely dependant on others.

Depends. If I was still able to do most of the stuff I wanted then yes. My grand parents are in their 80's and still drive, go travelling, walking across The Lake District, so I would love to be like them.

This pretty much, I wouldn't like to just be existing but If I had a good quality of life still then maybe.

Same as pretty much. One of my worst fears is getting really sick and having to have people look after me. If I'm healthy the grand, but I don't think I'd want to be 100,no.

I didn't realise you were only nineteen, your posts have such an air of maturity to them. You are so level headed.

In answer to the thread question, to live to that age with the feebleness that comes with it, I think no way do I want to live to such an age and feel like a burden to others.

Thank you for the nice comment, I can assure you that those around me think me anything but mature or level headed most of the time.

I have a wide interest in life and things around me, I love talking to people and learning their experiences of life and I do as much as I can to learn all about the World and events too.

I have my daft and wild side and if that continues through my life I would be happy to reach 100,I doubt it will though.Thanks again Suze.

I'm impressed what you do joey.....my mother and her siblings all have mild forms of dementia and what you say was better than the hamfisted way I expressed it.

My Uncle became a basket case which is probably why I have strong opinions. It almost killed my auntie having to care for him.

I think I was saying I never wish to get into that situation and prefer to bow-out disgracefully but still 100% me. I can say this as no dependants so it's up to me.
