The weird thing about big bro 3 is that there was no clear winner! i think the housemates this year were well... i wouldn't say boring but they were all normal! i know that the whole point of it is to show how they live but in big bro 2 there was helen, brian, naz...ect! all up for doing weird things! the only type of person i would like to see in next years one is someone like jade! even though i hated her she was different! they need a few people like pj, jonny and alex, but not all of them!!! i suppose what i'm trying to say is that they WERE ALL THE SAME!!! get better housemates next year big bro! Anyone agree with me?
PS. I loved jonny i have to admit... he was down to earth. i liked kate but whats so special about her?? she didn't deserve to win! |

I think I agree with you to a great extent although many on here wouldn't.
I have taped everything this year, and will tape over it very shortly without ever looking at it again. Last years tapes are still on hand for viewing, and still bring tears to my eyes even now. What on earth was Davina on about in this weeks heat? She said Jade's interview was the sweetest ever. Oh please! Paul's was so poignant, looking up at Helen crying for him on the screen, and Helen's was fantastic. Short or selective memory methinks. |

At the end of the day, the BB3 housemates were subjected to different conditions than the BB2 housemates. Who knows how they would have come across had the situation been different. And last year, Helen, who became my favourite at the end, could have gone after two weeks if people at home were not so worried about Penny's sanity! Then "Helen and Paul" would not have happened.
If we want BB4 to be better, we cannot predict how the contestants will behave as much as we would like. So make the conditions as follows: 1. No divide 2. Sensible budgets - forces them to eat together by not allowing them to buy too much, and keeps the boozing in proportion. 3. Team tasks. Get people co-operating. Make nominations really painful! Then we have a chance. Can't see it though, they want sex bitching and scandal because that brings in the dosh. |

Kate and Jonny gave good value, rest didn't. I voted for her because she was good at chores, while the rest were lazy, but wouldn't have Alex as he'd drive me bonkers. Mind you he'd make someone a good wife.
Trouble with a lot of the HM's there's no team spirit re housework....maybe producers ought to supply a couple of maids. |

Oldgit I agree with everything you say - my conditions for BB4 would be the same as yours. Give the housemates a chance to get to bond, then you really will see connections ie. H and P. This year they were not competitive as a group (ie working together to get money for food) but competitive individually so that they could be on the rich side.

No PPP. I'm not ignoring you, I do have a copy of the things you ask about, but I don't have the technology to copy them.
I am not parting with them either though, sorry! Perhaps there is someone on the board who can help you though |

I've already told you a few times on several other threads princess that discolady was the person doing most of the tapes for people last year - she had quite a little cottage industry going copying tapes for everyone.
Mark also has the facillity to copy tapes as he has done several for me. |

Westyalan.
discolady has always done copies of Big Brother tapes for us and the tapes in question were actually to do with Big Brother 2 and therefore completely relevant to this board. |

I wouldn't have been complaining! Brian was a major personality but I still think it would have been fine last year without him. It would have been different that's all. Every single person has an effect on everyone else and the way in which they form relationships with each other. I think last years contestants, and the year before's were a very different breed of people altogether from 2002. The earlier incumbents were nicer, with one ore two notable exceptions. I think they saw it as an experience they were all in together. This year it was dog eat dog. Maybe it was the unlimited grub, booze and the divide, or maybe it was the people. Who knows? I think BB is a cumulative experience. A lot of new people watched it this year who didn't watch it all last year. They did it because people kept telling them what an experience they missed before. I don't think it was because it was better. There were certainly no stand out characters this year, except maybe Alison. Which just goes to show, if even Brian had been nominated early last year against a couple of others, he might have gone. |

I certainly think Josh was on a hiding to nothing coming into the house late but I think we got to know Amma and Bubble quite well. I think the reason they didn't last long is because they were up against Paul and the viewing public had started to realise what was going on between him and Helen. Obviously once Josh was up against Helen it was a foregone conclusion again, given the romance between Helen & Paul, that he would be on his way.
I think there were more rounded characters in BB2 - we saw different facets of their personalities in a more realistic fashion - not one that was emboldened by alcohol. All they seemed to do in BB3 was either slouch about all day or get drunk. I think a lot of the blame for this has to be laid firmly at the feet of the production company. We like to see how people react and interact in 'normal' situations, this in itself can cause conflict and clashes of personality without resorting to 'forced' conflict. The interesting parts of BB2 were how the housemates dealt with the conflict and clashes and how they resolved them (or didn't). This made them seem more ordinary - we all have people we like and dislike, we all have times when we're stressed, it's how we deal with these things that forms our personality and our ability to relate to others. I just wish they would go back to the original format. |

I can understand why Big Brother chose every single contestant, but I do feel they need to get a better balance of personalities for the next bb.

LEE I think you'll find it has nothing to do with this board because this board is about better housemates and not video tapes!!

As I run this board with Mark and Kaz I think I might have some idea of what is relevant to it.
