Parents wernt THAT into music just listened to chart stuff so nothing inparticular really. Just whatever was on the radio or music channels when I decided to have a flick through.
I only got a CD Player when I was like 11 LOL. Then I got the NOW CDs because I didnt really know anybody that much to care and it gave me a selection "American Idiot" by Green Day was my first album because I love Boulevard of Broken Dream :') I remember my mum used to be obsessed with this song when it came out though and bought the physical single - And my dad played this a lot -

Chart music really. I used to watch music channels a lot with my brother, so..
He used to play a lot of rap and hip hop in his room though, so I grew up listening to that so that's probably why I have a liking for it now. I never listened to rock when I was growing up really.

My mum is a big Elton John, Lionel Richie, Barry White, Stevie Wonder etc. fan, so I got a lot of soul stuff from her...
My dad's favourite bands were Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits... but I remember him playing Bryan Adams a lot, we (my sister and me) used to ask him to play 'Summer of '69' every time we went out driving... As for my own stuff... I remember being really into Aqua, All Saints, Oasis, Garbage and the Spice Girls. I got music mostly from MTV and kids shows. But I was kinda aware of the radio and other one-hit-wonders (like Eagle-Eye Cherry and the New Radicals)

Ultravox,my mom was in love with Midge Ure,she went to see him loads of times and took me with her once, lol,we also had a decent dose of Glen Campbell, and Michael Jackson,i am eternally grateful she took me to see him, have to say anything played by any of these takes me right back to my childhood and they made some cracking records.

Both parents were really into their music and loved stuff from the 60's onwards. Dad listens to loads of obscure radio shows and is always introducing new music to me! But what I remember growing up...
Dad was mad on The Velvet Underground & The Grateful Dead Mum liked Bob Marley & The Pointer Sisters They both loved Kate & Anna McGarrigle ( But I already posted that in another thread) |
