You can't beat a refreshing poolside drink while relaxing on holiday - and the temptation was clearly too much to resist for this thirsty lizard, after being caught red-handed taking a cheeky sip of an unattended cocktail.

However the bold reptile didn't realise his every move was being watched by a nearby photographer - who managed to grab a quick snap of the funny episode in Cancun, Mexico.

After spotting the irresistible poolside drink, the scaly four-legged fiend can be spotted moving from his perched position on top of a wall towards the orange-flavoured cocktail.



Spreading its weight evenly across the wall, the forest green lizard relies on his ultra-strong grip to hold him up as he leans in for a quick slurp.

Cancun is one of the most popular Spring Break destinations with US college students during the Easter holidays.

Famous for its sun, beaches and pool parties, it seems this lizard just wanted to get involved in some of the fun.

While a small minority of lizards stick to a diet of insects and bugs, most tend to dine on plants and fruit (and seemingly a little alcohol too).
