You were quick with that LOL .

I imagine he's about 50 now and has progressed to accessing it all via the internet and his pals don't need to come round on the QT anymore!

In a way theres nothing parents can do to prevent their kids from watching porn...
When I was younger and wanted to google dirty stuff i'd use my PSP, because the only computer we had is in the kitchen. Its also more likely to be shown it by an older friend than googling it in your own home.

This is why I am quite pro-parent responsibility and less keep on over censorship. If for example a child wanted a new DVD which maybe quite graphic (eg scenes of combat) all the parent has to say "Yes/No I will buy the DVD for you." this goes the same for the internet. If a parent is worried about what a child may look at online then put blocks and filters on your computer/wireless divice rather then "Ignorance is bliss" and remove the content all together. This can be achived with strong minded parents. Not the government.

Latest from the paper we all love to hate and hate to love

Quote:

Follows concerns children as young as 11 are accessing porn online

What we would like is for people to have to prove they are over 18 to lift the age content bar – like they do with mobile phone providers.’

Fiona Mactaggart, a Labour member of the group which wrote the report, said: ‘The Government is failing to lead on this. It says it wants to protect children but it needs to put those actions into words.

‘The problem with opt-out systems is that they tend to be very complex and take ages to do, meaning parents might not bother and think, “I don’t need to do it now”. And maybe they don’t need to, because their children are too young – but what happens when they grow up and start finding these sites?

‘The answer is to introduce an opt-in system, and I am fairly confident that the profits that ISPs make from porn sites will mean they will make opting in much easier than they are currently making opting out.’

John Brown, of children’s charity the NSPCC, said: ‘We would take the view that child safety should take precedence over civil liberties arguments.

‘We are in a Wild West period with the internet, and we believe that an opt-in system would not constrain civil liberties because over-18s would still be able to access this content.’

I dont have to justify my view to you. If you can't accept or respect my view I am sorry. It may not be a problem for you for children to be able to access hardcore porn ...
Im not willing to get into a discussion on that to be fair.

I don't understand. Do you need an explanation as to why children shouldn't be exposed to pornography?

Like kizzy said, we're not talking 15 year old sex mad teens. We're talking children as young as 10 and 11.

Given that the topic is CHILDREN INCREASE USE OF PORN -and given Kizzy's post at the top which I have quoted - I think in all fairness: she had given her reason prior to you posing your direct question to her: she had in fact, already given her view and explained why she had that view. Didn't you see her earlier post?

I'm sorry, I did not see that Kizzy had answered my questions prior to me asking it. When I said teenager/children, I meant people aged between 11 - 13.

I never said that we were talking about "15 year old sex mad teens", but I just expressed my opinion that I think it is not a major problem and I questioned Kizzy to why Kizzy thought that it was a problem. I think there are more problems in the world then 11 year old children being able to access porn.

Of course there are more problems, and even bigger problems but it doesn't stop this itself being a problem.

I don't think that it is that big of a problem, that's all I was saying.

No apology needed to me at all. Was only pointing out that she had actually addressed what you were wondering.

There... everyone in a happy calm place again!

Parents do need to more strict: but not every parent is a good parent - or gives a damn what their kids (regardless of age) get upto. As long as they are in the bedroom, being 'quiet', not being a nuisance, not out on the streets (which to a degree I understand) - it will happen.

The other rub is that these days, the 'kids' are far more pc / internet savvy than their parents and they can run rings around them as far as access bars are concerned, wireless hot spots etc, piggybacking someone else's connections etc.

Some very smart kids about these days when it comes to modern technology - you just have to look at some of the younger ones on here with their techy knowledge!!
