I would say the instances are pretty rare but they have occurred. You can find racist people in every country. In my experience they are usually racist against everybody who isn't one of 'them' though sometimes they are selective and hate only certain races

Erm, she didn't, he was mumbling and in return she mumbled... but yeah, whatever.

Nope. That's your twisted interpretation.

She took the piss of his mumbling. There was no hint of an Irish accent.

Well I disagree.

They weren't sitting around discussing eating tools and habits of various cultures in an educational way. Ashleigh was once again putting an HM down which resulted in them mocking Deana and her habits and Scott brought her culture into it and they made a joke out of it. That in my eyes was below the belt and not at all amusing - it was shallow, childish and ignorant and if they couldn't see that for themselves then they seriously need to wake up and grow up!

Look I'm not a fan of Deana's and there are some people I would rather see win far more than I would like to see her walk out with the BB prize but come on, there is absolutely no reason to insult a person or their culture just to get a laugh and make yourself feel better than that person.

I don't get it... people moan when they get warnings to stop them doing it... but if they continued doing it Ofcom would get involved and then everyone'd be moaning more.

Just what

The only thing I find uncomfortable over the last few days is how politically correct big brother is trying to be.

We watch the show because its suppose to depict the personalities and interactions of a group of strangers. Over the course of the series, people will get into fights, have falling outs, and say stupid things. Sometimes those things might be rude and nasty. Life is rude and nasty sometimes, its the reality. That's why we watch, for the drama, for the arguments, for the random slag offs. If it was 12 friends sitting around the campfire every night roasting marshmallows and having a friendly chat, nobody would care. Scott made a bit on an ignorant comment. Breaking News, some people are ignorant, or say things without thinking them through sometimes. That's the beauty of BB, we get to see it.

I wish the housemates this year were as opinionated and sure of themselves as Marcus was, so they could tell BB to ****** off.

PC saves lives. It's a slippery slope otherwise.
Pointing out irrelevant differences today.
Name calling tomorrow.
Kosovo next year.
Human history tells that story. Have a look.

it was politically correct to not say anything bad about the communist party, or mein fuhrer, too.

Would you rather racists, homophobes, sexists etc.. just hid in the shadows? or would you rather they spoke up and you knew who they are so you can challenge their ideas??

The more you talk about it, the better it gets. that's my opinion.

Most bigotry is based on ignorance, you can't cure ignorance with silence.

It's like back in school when the teacher told you "there are no stupid questions".

You're having a laugh here, surely....

Their is a difference between petty name calling and stereotyping for a laugh, and mass genocide. I'd like to think the majority of BB viewers can tell the difference.

C5 are just trying to protect their reputation and don't want **** loads of complaints from ofcom

Hasn't race row taught you anything?

I do find it interesting when I ask how on earth people can be comfortable living in a country that arrests people for Twitter comments, I'm told it's for the public good, and how dare I suggest people be allowed to say what they want on Twitter. Yet, when someone is told "no, no, bad" on a tv show for making offensive comments, it's the end of the world?

I'm finding the logic here lacking.

What's race row?

I get that BB doesn't want loads of complaints to ofcom, but isn't that just part of the course when you're making a reality TV show documenting how complete strangers interaact over a few months? People are going to say stupid things, its not a reflection of Big Brother, they aren't reading scrips. If conor makes a stupid comment, then conor makes a stupid comment, its not Big Brothers fault. They can choose not to show it if they don't think its appropriate. But then, what's the point of the show. We watch BB because of these kinds of things. We want to see the good, the bad and the ugly. If BB keep stepping in and manipulating how the housemates would act naturually, then they'll just alienate their entire audience, because that's not the point of the show. Also, people complain to ofcom because they can, not because its necesarily valid. If I'm in the Mall and I hear some random kid say something inappropriate, I don't run to the mall management and file a formal complaint. It's part of life. Sometimes people say or do stupid things.

Exactly. We only started using cutlery in the 11 century, then it was only used by Kings etc, not the ordinary man.
Many cultures still eat with their hands ,we do too when we eat a sandwich, fish, chips and a packet of crisps.

Yes I understand where you're coming from but my point is, most of the public wont see it from that view so it would be a disaster

PC in the former-Yugoslavia is EXACTLY WHAT IS MOST OFTEN BLAMED FOR THE HATRED!

The Yugoslavia model (which really IS a huge influence on our PC culture) and was used as a 'model' as a 'success model' FAILED.

Yes, it was once used by left-wing liberal types like you to 'prove how it can work'.
Society and even government rulings, laws and things like arresting teenagers for making racist comments in public were used to make it 'Incorrect'.
See what a Utopia this created? SEEEEE... you ****ing right-wing 'capitalist' people?
SEEE how employing 'Big Brother' thinkspeak control had all the Serbs, Croats, Muslims, Orthodox, Catholic... SEE!

Well, this is exactly what built up horrific tensions.. and btw.. ones that were NOT NATURALLY CHALLENGED,
and,
were NOT actually ALLOWED to play out,
and,
Keep in mind - those harbouring racist ideas, resentments and opinions actually 'Win'.
What?
Yes, they actually 'win' because they were never actually allowed to be brought up and challenged, debated, corrected, rebuked, smashed and dismantled.

I can tell you this - I work with 'Former-Yugos' all day and all night. Amazingly, our company has everyone from Muslim Serbs, Orthodox.. a former army guy too.
They ALL AGREE and will ALL explain why 'Political Correctness' and enforced 'Think Speak', Government regulated 'racial unity/integration' and everything you are touting was...
...EXACTLY WHAT FUELED SPARKED AND INFLAMED MASSIVE RACIAL HATRED AND ETHNIC CLEANSING AND HORRORS.

If we went by your advise = some of the worst race-riots, racist 'backlash' and who knows.. maybe parts of London will look like Kosovo...
.....oh wait. Yes that is happening.

I think the spotlight should always be pointed directly on to the bigot.
It is those that want it to go unchallenged on a Tv programme to whom I point out the slippery slope. There are a lot of cries of enjoyment being interrupted when bigotry is challenged by BB. As if it is of little consequence. Just pointing out those consequences.
It starts with little things like pointing out differences with contempt and disgust. Then eventually we're all different and living in Dystopia.

Many teenagers kill themselves every year all over the world because they're called gay and the negative nasty vile way in which that small small word is use.
