Former contestant on RuPaul’s reality show Drag Race Antoine Ashley, better known by his stage name, Sahara Davenport, has passed away Sunday night.

The cause of Davenport's death has not been made public, but various people close to the performer have confirmed the news.

The Logo network, which aired the Drag Race show, released a statement in response to Davenport's passing:



'Logo is profoundly saddened by the passing of Antoine Ashley who fans around the world knew and loved as Sahara Davenport. He was an amazing artist and entertainer who'll be deeply missed by his Logo family. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family, especially his boyfriend Karl, in their time of need.'

Hundreds of fans and colleagues took to Twitter to express their grief at Davenport’s passing. His boyfriend and season three Drag Race contestant Karl Westerberg, known as Manila Luzon, simply wrote: ‘I love him so much.
’
RuPaul twitted: ‘Shocked & heartbroken over @SaharaDavenport. Never occurred to me that we'd ever lose one of my girls. I see them as immortal.’
