Default Jay-Z Takes The Subway To Show In Hometown Of Brooklyn

Jay-Z Takes the Subway to Brooklyn Gig

Jay-Z is just a regular guy on his way to work.

The rapper shocked many a New York commuter on Saturday when he took the subway from Manhattan to Brooklyn's new Barclays Center, where he performed the last of eight concerts to commemorate the grand opening of the venue as well as the debut of the newly rechristened Brooklyn Nets, of which he's part owner.

Jay-Z—who hails from the nearby Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn and took his rap moniker from the J/Z subway line that goes there—caught the R train at Canal Street accompanied by his bodyguards.

Not surprisingly, fellow straphangers snapped pics and recorded video of the unusual moment. Hova was more than accommodating, even posing for one photo with the lady sitting next to him, while some fans ended up trailing him all the way to the arena.

It's nice to know Jay's a man of the people.

The hip-hopster meanwhile plans to release a digital EP dubbed Live in Brooklyn on iTunes tomorrow, collecting eight tracks and eight videos from his historic hometown run, which Netizens can download for $9.99.

What a guy.
