Wouldn't say that it would be something no one cared about, but to bring it up supposedly for the show is a bit pathetic. Unless he is using it for the publicity of his mothers campaign
Either way don't think it can be brushed aside simply as a sob story, it's quite more serious then that |

Just trying to prove he uses sob stories. He said this like 5 weeks ago and now he's saying it again

It's not a sob story, it was his childhood...
If he hadn't told the story the tabloids would have, at least this way it's in his own words.

It's not a sob story. Sob story is the rubbish by Jade living on An estate and having to go on the school run. Or The little mix girl crying for being called fat by Internet trolls amongst plenty of silly ones by half the male contestants in the past.

He most certainly is using it as a sob story because
1) It has nothing to do with the show 2) He talked about the exact same thing a month and a half ago, about how his dad chased his mum with a blow torch and cut his nail. However sad it may be there is no reason for him to bring it up again few weeks before the finals. 3) If you carry on reading the article you'll see he talks about how his mum supports a charity. How is that not trying to get votes! Just because it tugs your heart strings does not make it any less of a sob story Last edited by Me. I Am Salman; 24-11-2012 at 01:54 AM. |

I find it quite sad that you have no sympathy/empathy towards him.
I think its good he brings it into the open, and doesn't feel ashamed. I'm very very open now about the fact I suffered in an abusive relationship for a long time, although I used to feel ashamed of it and sometimes that people would think it was my own fault. I'm also used to people thinking I put it out there for sympathy and/or attention. If they want to think that its fine. I just think, why should it be hidden, awareness needs to be raised of this type of thing. Jahmene is a bit of an emotional basket case - you can see it in his eyes, and my god can I identify with that. At first, before I knew his background I thought he was a drama queen but he's definitely not. And if it helps him get through the days by putting everything out there, then fair play to the guy. It's his way of affirming to himself that hey, it wasn't my/our fault and I'm not ashamed. It took me a long time and a lot of counselling to get there.

I'm not saying I don't have sympathy, believe me I do, especially when he first revealed it. But he's absolutely milking it to the point where it makes you wonder whether he's just using it to get to the final. He reveals something new almost every week and it's funny how it tends to be around the weekend.
I'm sorry for what happened to you though Kate I just think it's wrong to use stories like for personal gain, and it's in no way similar to what you're doing. If I am wrong though and Jahmene actually is this bag of emotions, is he really right for this show? Last edited by Me. I Am Salman; 24-11-2012 at 11:07 AM. |

No need for these things to come out before the final verdict at the final IMO
But it is sad |

I'd still vote for Jahmene without the sob story. Him and James are the only credible acts left now.

As the competition progresses more people will be interested to know his back story, not everyone had the perfect nuclear family. His determination to succeed to me is driven from those experiences, I would say the last thing he is after was sympathy. The message seems to be whatever you go through you can overcome, he is really inspirational. If you can go through years of trauma and come out the other side unbroken and willing to help others do the same is amazing. It shows a strength and depth of character that is very rare.

What do you expect from this guy? he can't get votes naturally so he uses tragic cases to get the public to vote for him.

It's clear to many others too that Jahmene isn't 'milking it'. Far from it. He just isn't the type, it's as simple as that. We have been watching reality shows long enough to know the drama queens from the genuinely damaged. Jahmene Last edited by jet; 26-11-2012 at 01:06 AM. |

It's sad but it's obvious with the timing of it all that he's trying to play on people's sympathies for votes.
