..if someone you don't know addresses you with a term of endearment...mate, dear, babe, hun, sweetheart..whatever they may say....do you mind..?...or would you rather they didn't..?..

hhhmmmm, I don't know, depends on who it was, how they say it, what the situation is, lots of factors really. I suppose generally speaking though It doesn't bother me

Nah, I keep my little 'codenames' to my close-friends.
I do call literally everybody bub though, I might need to stop with that one. |

I generally don't mind...it beats being called an awful name but I couldn't call someone I don't know "love" or something.....

I have no problem with it in real life, on forums it depends on the context they are used as some posters use them to try and patronise.

where I used to live people used "cock" as a term of endearement.....as in "you all right cock?" arrrggghh now that one annoyed me - when I first moved there I didn't know whether to hug them or punch them in the face
