General chat/chat means just that doesn't it, general chat/chat? I don't see that it mattters what the subject content of a thread is for the most part, we can cherry pick which threads we want to read surely. Maybe some members would rather just ask opinions of others than google every question. Plus, every forum has what some would consider nonsense threads, so I just don't see a problem, unless it's a spambot, and some of their threads aren't that bad

Its not google, you're quite correct but it is a public forum with a section for off topic chat and banter so I don't quite see what the problem is really? If I don't like / have interest in a thread I move along and view another...

Can we ban or swear filter the word "banter", and give anyone using it a weeks ban? Apart from Annie this once, as the new rule has only just been introduced. From now.
