I loved the first yeah but I think even if you didn't like the first you may like this one. It's less heroin focused and less...............um manky? haha and all 4 of the main actors are so great

I pre-ordered that 'Denial' film. I didn't realise it wasn't released yet. Looking forward to it though. |

The Italian Job

Saw Rings last night expecting it to be terrible, given the bad reviews. It was actually pretty decent and I enjoyed the story very much. A solid 6/10

I love Trainspotting, mainly for the excellent performances of the cast. Want to see the second one.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I absolutely loved it, didn't want it to end. I'm off to see La La Land. They say Lion is good too.

28 Weeks Later (2007)
10/10 > scarily amazing sequel, the opening was spectacular Poseidon (2006) 10/10 > the ship turning sequence was incredible so much detail & it was tense throughout 28 Days Later (2002) 9/10 > slow at times, but when the horror starts it's great Antz (1998) 7/10 > couldn't help but compare it to A Bug's Life but it stands on it's own speaking of..... A Bug’s Life (1998) 7/10 > one of the weaker Pixar films but not the worst, like the real/fake bird scenes to scare the Grasshoppers/villains away

Not OK with anyone rating 28 Weeks Later as better than 28 Days Later.
Triggered is wot. |

28 Weeks is more actioned pack for sure, but 28 Days is way more scary as it actually seems realistic. That scene of a completely empty street (whatever street it is in London) is so chilling. However, the opening of 28 Weeks is one of my favourites and will always be remembered.

28 Days later is really good, 28 Weeks later is a mediocre zombie flick

Speaking of 28 Days Later though, has anyone else seen the alternative / "chicken" ending?

Unfriended (2015) - 8/10
31 (2016) - 5/10 I haven't seen many social-media inspired horror films but I really enjoyed Unfriended. 31 was average, it wasn't really what I was expecting and it felt like a series of short films put together rather than an actual film. |

The Mummy (1999)
10/10 > love the adventure & action sequences The Mummy Returns (2001) 8/10 > despite it's faults with the CGI (Scorpion King ) also thought a few details were a bit sloppy like the book of the dead is open but they needed a key before & how did Anck Su Namun get resurrected? it's a worthy follow up The Mummy 3: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor (2008) 7/10 > first of all they replaced Rachel Wiesz with Maria Bello & it wasn't set in Egypt, but I waited 7 years for this? just feel a bit meh compared to the first two

Loving
Pretty much found all of it great...except... and it's kind of a big problem... I didn't think Joel Edgerton was good. Whilst both of the leads carried off the Lovings' quiet humility and pride to an extent, I felt that Edgerton was too...evasive of the camera filming him in addition to the one in the story. His pauses and shyness were obvious but also didn't have much clarity or "there"ness. On the complete opposite of the scale was Ruth Negga, whose silence spoke loudly. Hers was one of the best understated performances I've seen in a long time. Also found Nick Kroll a good surprise, bit odd seeing Liz G from PubLizity lobbying the Supreme Court. And Michael Shannon was brilliant as ever. I'd give it an 8/10 because I'm not sure it'll go down as a classic and the lead actor's role was too important to leave wanting more, but otherwise I enjoyed it a lot.

Inside (2007) - 7.5/10
Really enjoyed this one. One of the better films of the New wave of French horror and a great home invasion film. Brutally gory but it's realistic and doesn't take away from it at all. Plus I love how the villain is a woman going after another woman as opposed to it being a man like it usually is in these type of films. |
