Third one is alright until the end when the villains turn cartoonish, and the tournament really kills it - Daniel can't seem to fight at all.

I haven't watch Next Karate Kid yet but I've heard it is quite bad.

I thought it was okay, it was charming enough but I thought it was rooted far too much in typical Pixar tropes that undersold and underpackaged the rather brilliant concept. If you've watched a few Pixar films in the past then you'll know what to expect. An unlikely partnership, a race against time, a musical montage meant to make you cry, etc.

It's still a good film in it's own right but Pixar is showing some fatal flaws at this point. They have these great concepts and they keep reducing them to the same story formats and it's lazy, it's soulless (hahahaha), and worse of all, between this and Onward, it's getting kind of boring.

Since the film itself is fine, I'll give it a 6/10 but I'm starting to really lose patience with Pixar now.

..The Midnight Sky......it was obviously a very melancholy vibe because of the storyline and I’m not sure that I connected with the characters as much as I’d have liked to and needed to, to fully feel it../...the emotional aspects etc...but very absorbing anyway, 6.5/10, I think...

Spoiler:

...I really wanted to know what ‘the event’ was that led to earth’s apocalypse...because then it might have been possible to imagine any possible survivors or not...

...Escape Room...

...obviously not an original, type plot ...
Spoiler:

...very Final Destination-ish, I thought...
but the cast were cute and it ticked along ...5.5/10, I think...

I haven't watched Soul or Onward yet in their defence, but I do miss the fun adventures of Movies like Cars, The Incredibles, and Monster's Inc, or the really creative Wall-E.

Now it all feels grounded in normal reality based Emo Drama that even the CW would reject imo.

....Tenet...lots of action and tense bits, I liked the casting of the main characters...Kenneth Branagh as Sator was so sinister and threatening...I didn’t love it as much as Inception but it was a very good watch, I think...although, when it was gone, it was gone...it didn’t really leave the thoughts provoked for very long and maybe it should have...7/10, I was gripped and Teneted for an evening...

Default What was the last film you watched?

The ‘cult’ live-action movie of Popeye with Robin Williams ...a very odd movie but actually rather watchable ...

Fascinating to learn that they converted a little harbour village into Popeye’s harbour and the locals haven’t changed the ‘set’ or buildings much at all since ... they’ve apparently just added some colour to the drab buildings in the movie ..

The locals also recreate or re-enact songs and scenes from the movie using lookalikes.. as part of the tourist attraction

I watched it on a 4k BluRay Disc
I would give it 8/10
Amazing film, going backwards is a good concept.
Long film.
I can see why Tom Cruise enjoyed it, in the Cinema.

Safety Not Guaranteed - 8/10

A lot better and funnier than I expected. Nice to have a film which packs a lot into less than 90 minutes and puts a different twist on standard romcoms/dramas

...I watched that a little while ago and gave it a similar high rating, it was a lovely movie...there are some gems on Netflix atm...It was the same Producers as Little Miss Sunshine, which I don’t know if you’ve ever seen...but also an excellent movie, one of my all time favourites...

Ah wasn't sure if anyone else would have seen it as I'd never heard of it before stumbling across it on Netflix yesterday. Agree with all you said, there is so much depth to it and I find it really impressive how they achieved that with quite an ambitious story and apparently on a really small budget

I've not heard of Little Miss Sunshine but looks like another really clever film with a lot of heart, will have to see if I can find it available to watch
